Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 25, 2011 11:08 pm Hi, I'm looking for colour scheme ideas for our family room. We have a large chocolate brown micro suede couch (it's sorta the shape of a square C) and I'm wanting to paint a feature wall they will suit the couch. The feature wall will be behind our entertainment unit which is also chocolate brown. Our house is fairly open plan and the wall that I'm wanting to paint is quite a dominant wall in the centre of our house. It's a fairly large wall at approx 6 metres long. The floor is tiled white with a light grey marble effect. Does anyone have any ideas on what colour I could make the feature wall? Or even better if you have a chocolate brown couch can you please post a pic of what you have done. I normally know what I want to do design wise with my rooms but I think because this wall is so dominant and large I'm a little afraid of it haha. Hoping someone can give me some ideas Ohh just realised that in my sig is my old house thread which on the first page in the first post has my house design. The wall I'm referring to is the long one above the word family. Re: Decorating ideas to tie in with chocolate brown couch 2Apr 25, 2011 11:13 pm I am not sure - and will be in the same boat as you when we build! I have a chocolate lounge as well. but added to that have 2 recliners which have a deep burgundy red tinge to them.... I think I am going to go a deep red but not sure if I will be game enough! Maybe try a few colour pots and put them near your lounge... see what takes your fancy... I love deep purple as well... but not sure... depending on how game you are really.... big and bold or blending in.... Re: Decorating ideas to tie in with chocolate brown couch 3Apr 25, 2011 11:36 pm It's so hard isn't it..... I've searched some sites on the net too but not really having much luck. i think I might just have to get a few sample pots and go from there.... I also have the chocolate brown lounge suite, as well as a matching dining setting. I'm by no means a design guru, but I love creams and reds with the chocolate brown. I don't have the right wall for a feature wall, but if I did it would definitely be red. I put together some design idea boards so I know exactly where i'm heading, also makes it easier to buy things while I'm waiting to move in! Be brave and go RED!! She bout a fabulous abstract painting with splashes of red, aqua, hot pinks etc, and now she interchanges her cushions on her dark chocolate couch with the colors in the paining and adds a few touches. It brings a whole new look to her lounge room! Earlier this year it was highlighted with aqua blue which felt cool in summer, now she has changed it to red and it feels warmer. ... i cant wait till she tries the hot pink! Maybe a piece of artwork will inspire your colour selection. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All new built homes look like display homes... until the furniture goes in. I might try that as well..... my dad is going to paint me some abstract art when he gets here at the end of the year..... good thinkin Starz! Re: Decorating ideas to tie in with chocolate brown couch 11May 03, 2011 5:26 pm I think the artwork is a great idea if you are afraid of making a more permanent decision - but I do really like teal/aqua blues with chocolate browns. We have just finished building and have bought a choc leather modular - I bought a silk throw for it in New York last year that is predominantly the teal colour, and our cushions are a mix of pale gold and turquoise. I love Moroccan/Turkish interiors so just love the rich colours with browns - but you do have to be brave!! Re: Decorating ideas to tie in with chocolate brown couch 13May 04, 2011 3:02 pm I had a look at your house pictures, love the blue front door! So maybe you need to warm it up a little with a further colour injection. You can wallpaper also. Toffee Fingers by Dulux is a lovely yummy colour. I would say both styles you have pictured are steel. The lower chord of the first pic would be a massive lump if made using timber considering the size of the rafters.
