Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jan 06, 2008 6:05 pm Does anyone know of a supplier that sells Timber blinds in an espresso or dark chocolate colour????
I am not fussed if it is pre-packaged or custom made at this stage.... I have previously bought some (Windoware brand) from Lincraft which were fantastic, but they no longer stock that colour.... I don't want cedar or dark cedar colours as that will still be too light for my colour scheme.... I have looked at a few places on-line, but no-one seems to have the colour that i want.... Any suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks..... Re: WANTED -TIMBER BLINDS - ESPRESSO COLOUR 2Jan 06, 2008 6:20 pm Hi Phoenix,
We went to Home Outlet in Cranbourne yesterday, they have them in chocolate or at least very dark, they went up to 2400mm also but not that cheap. Hope this helps, http://homeoutlet.com.au/portal/ Re: WANTED -TIMBER BLINDS - ESPRESSO COLOUR 3Jan 06, 2008 7:13 pm Thanks so much for that, the prices aren't too bad considering that we can't get them just anywhere..... much cheaper than custom too!!!!!!!!!
I will definitely check them out soon... Downloaded their catalogue from their website too. This is definitely the colour that i am refering to: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ They are Basswood, has anyone had any experience, either good or bad with this type of wood??? Going by our plan's sizes, it should cost us about $2K for most of the house....The theatre will have curtains/blockout blinds and still undecided on the kids play room yet - may have to be a custom made timber blind??? Bargain blinds indeed, $2K is cheap!!!!! Thanks again. Re: WANTED -TIMBER BLINDS - ESPRESSO COLOUR 4Jan 06, 2008 8:25 pm P….. I know you have probably thought of this…..BUT.
They will show the dust more than any other colour! I have the timber look a like blinds…..I am about to get rid of mine. I can’t stand the upkeep and cleaning of them! As well as the real ones I have in my dining room. By the end of the year….they will all be gone!!! Neat freak me….can’t cope any more! Do you want to sell them???
I don't want curtains throughout the house, and i know that they collect and would show more dust than the standard colours, but i can't bring myself to change my colour scheme in the house to suit teak coloured blinds. I am looking to cover some of them with a track system that looks similar to the Springcrest style(i've seen it around- but not sure of the brand though.)... I want to run a set of sheers on them in either a lighter coloured embroidered voile or a sort of brocade lacy style which i currently have a sample of... Then you will be able to see the chocolate colour thorugh the sheers....... I'm being difficult, i know, as some windows will cost a small fortune, but i want some rooms to be real features, like the master b/r etc. Re: WANTED -TIMBER BLINDS - ESPRESSO COLOUR 6Jan 06, 2008 8:41 pm Mine are all a teak colour!
I’m replacing them with embroidered voile like you! But the sun is so bad on the windows I am replacing I need to keep it out best way I can…..and these blinds aren’t cutting it for me! So for me it will be gold leaf embroidered voile…..with 3 pass curtains, to keep the heat out! I’m over not being able to get to my windows to clean them and open them properly! Re: WANTED -TIMBER BLINDS - ESPRESSO COLOUR 9Jan 06, 2008 9:00 pm I don’t think I have seen the blinds in a deep chocolate…..that’s not to say they don’t make them! No I can’t help you with a supplier…..sorry. Try Luxaflex.
My professional opinion….. While visualizing the look you are trying to achieve, I understand where you are going. But I also have reservations about a DARK blind behind a light voile curtain….there will be a huge colour variance at your windows. Yes the voile curtains I am going to use is somewhat top of the line…..but if I have to have curtains at my windows they will have to make a statement!!! Not quite understanding the tracks you are talking about. Some of the sheer curtains available now is unbelievable….they are to die for!
Nothing like the ones nana had!!!! This is where we undress and change, sleep, make the bed etc. All this activity introduces the fine white dust, that actually is mostly skin. We shed about a tablespoon of skin each day. So the bedrooms become quite dusty with this particular dust.
Should see some places where they have black glossy bedroom furniture! If like me you have a fireplace in the room with blinds they also get a build up of all the dust from the fire. We have chocolate stained timber suite and so does one of my sons.... So any other colour timber would not suit...in my opinon... I'll be taking my fabric and paint samples when i go to check out the blinds to see if it suits my "vision".... I don't mind dusting/vacuming the dust off the blinds and furniture, that's a normal event, as is the regular vac'ing of my carpet.... I've had the blinds before but in the teak colour...so i won't be doing anything new in regards to their upkeep.... Re: WANTED -TIMBER BLINDS - ESPRESSO COLOUR 16Jan 06, 2008 10:36 pm Michelle Sorry P……THAT sort of tracks….I wasn’t thinking of something basic! Yes I know them! It's not necessarily the track that i am after, as long as i get that effect on the material...I like the curves, especially when they are drawn to the side.... DO you get what i mean???? Any suggestions....i think this is the first time i've asked you for advice too!!! Re: WANTED -TIMBER BLINDS - ESPRESSO COLOUR 18Jan 06, 2008 10:57 pm Yes, that's it....but only on certain windows in the house....
I've heard they are really expensive, like around $400 for a std track??? There must be a few different suppliers out there. Springcrest were the first, i've heard of a company called Oslo and now Silent Gliss.... Need to do some homework on the pricing and to locate some Melbourne suppliers... Thanks for that!!! Re: WANTED -TIMBER BLINDS - ESPRESSO COLOUR 19Jan 07, 2008 2:54 am I've also thought about wooden blinds, shutters and other variations for window coverings.
My final decision has been to get some printed sheers or voile on a double track with 1 or 2 pass block out behind for privacy and sun block. Having lived with a number of fabrics and wooden blinds I really like the softness, acoustics and thermal shield of curtains. But I will DEFINITELY ensure the curtains are split in the middle so I can open windows. I made that mistake early on by having a continuous curtain with no split, thereby making it very hard to open windows. Re: WANTED -TIMBER BLINDS - ESPRESSO COLOUR 20Jan 07, 2008 6:02 am These are gorgeous….use a lot of the time in commercial applications as they are very user friendly!!! Nice bec!
