Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 19, 2011 9:32 am HELLLLP... We are looking for a (warm?) grey DULUX colour scheme for our living room. One darker feature wall, one light shade for the walls, and a shade for the skirtings/doors (just white for those maybe?). We dont want the wall colours to be too dark as it isnt a very large space. We got sample pots of Grey Pail and Lexicon... The Grey Pail looked far too light blue, which we dont want. And im not sure that the lexicon matched it at all. so basically we need a three-pronged combination in shades of grey I just didnt realise how different the paint would look once its actually on the wall, a lot lighter and bluer... its making it tough. Any colour combination suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks! Re: Please help me with a grey colour scheme 2Apr 19, 2011 10:02 am We are going to use Limed White Half on our walls and Vivid white for skirtings/doors as we want a crisp white to contrast the grey. Limed white is a nice warm grey undertone, I had to paint a sample of plaster and check it in different lights before i was completely happy with the colour. A friend of mine is using Grey Pebble (or Pebble Grey can't remember) which is also a nice warm grey colour. Have you considered Full strength for feature, half strength for walls and quarter strength for skirting/doors?? That way you will know all colours will complement each other. Re: Please help me with a grey colour scheme 3Apr 19, 2011 10:42 am Great, that gives me a place to start! Will try that combo tonight. I did get a half strength Grey Pail also, but could hardly tell the difference between the two, so I think if I go half strength for walls, it may still be too dark for our space... Re: Please help me with a grey colour scheme 4Apr 19, 2011 10:46 am I'm not quite settled, but am deciding between Dulux Silkwort and Dieskau (they're both on the same chip) for the walls, with Lexicon Quarter (in gloss) for the skirts, arcs and doors. Dieskau is lighter, so it's winning on the idea of space, but I might use the darker one in our bedroom for some drama. ~W~ Building our forever home - Lilium Estate Clyde - Land due May 2019 Built our first home - Pakenham - 2011 Re: Please help me with a grey colour scheme 9Apr 19, 2011 1:22 pm chlo_85 Oh and I think perhaps on the darker feature wall, I may alternate stripes of matt paint and the pearl-effect paint, in the same colour... I'm planing stripes in our entry way, with dune, flooded gum and dieskau! I've got a plan on my computer at home, I'll upload it tonight. ~W~ Building our forever home - Lilium Estate Clyde - Land due May 2019 Built our first home - Pakenham - 2011 Re: Please help me with a grey colour scheme 10Apr 19, 2011 3:13 pm We used Milton Moon as a feature colour with the main walls being in Lexicon. After painting the Milton Moon I think I could have this through out my entire home - it's really nice (imo)! We also used a darker grey for our theatre room which is the same as our glass splashback called Western Myall. Walls Dulux Silkwort Feature colour Dulux Tristan Trims Dulux Dieskau Believe it or not, there is a hint of brown in the feature colour, just not showing on screen. Im worried that white will be too close to Lexicon to use as my trim? We used Lexicon half in enamel - it looks white against the grey and the lexicon. Walls: Limed white half (Thanks Titch101, loved it!) Feature: Monk half strength ... we actually preferred Western Myall (thanks Sleven!) but it didnt quite match our furniture / blinds Trims: Lexicon Thanks everyone for your help Re: Please help me with a grey colour scheme 17Apr 20, 2011 12:54 pm sleven We used Milton Moon as a feature colour with the main walls being in Lexicon. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7157 Thank you @. Tried to play with the facade models but the exact colour is not matching up. 2 3258 |
