I'd be going with either a white for the cupboards, or perhaps black or a mocha brown like the brown fleck in the granite. With white cupboards, I'd go with a dark wood or tile floor. If you choose darker cupboards, then a lighter tiled floor. I really like the colour of the walls they've used in your last photos with the granite. I'd be looking for something similar to that. Good luck. Re: Help me with colour choices for my kitchen/living area 5Apr 11, 2011 3:05 pm I also think perhaps a high gloss white for the cabinetry. The Blanco benchtop is quite a strong statement. Perhaps you could match the floorboards to one of the darker colours in the bench. Re: Help me with colour choices for my kitchen/living area 6Apr 11, 2011 4:41 pm I think you are all correct in saying the silver strata doesn't work and a colour without a pattern works better. I've changed the colour to gloss white in the 3d program . Found a laminex colour that is sorta like the blanco granite though it doesn't have the black flecks. However I'm wondering if I should do the laminate backing under the benchtop overhang also in the vinyl wrap or in a contrasting colour (which would probably be a little cheaper). What do people think? Its the bit facing the table when you are sitting down Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I ended up choosing this granite colour so if I went for a constrasting colour it should probably be one of the granite flecks within this... That way you are still in the same gloss / colour but a cheaper option. DISCLAIMER - Are you having the granite with waterfall edges? If so then the vinyl wrap will never be near the laminex panel. BUT if you are not having waterfall edge on the bench then I would just continue the wrap around to the underbench portion for continuity. Some things are worth waiting for. Well there will be an overhang of the granite to form the breakfast bar bit. The 3d laminex site doesn't really allow me to show that in the 3d drawing. Re: Help me with colour choices for my kitchen/living area 10May 04, 2011 12:17 pm Veefy - I meant does the end of the narrowest part of your granite have a granite panel down to the floor? This is a normally finished edge Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is my waterfall edge Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ With a waterfall edge the front panels are never next to the side / back panels therefore you could get away with the gloss being in a laminex. With a normal bench the front panel meets the side panel meets the back panels so you would want them to be the same. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Help me with colour choices for my kitchen/living area 13May 04, 2011 3:58 pm kyton In that case the panels will all flow onto each other - so I personally would stick with the white gloss vinyl. thanks, was trending towards that but useful to have a 2nd opinion. 3 5549 CDC Housing Code 3 When to apply Floor Area external face of wall vs Gross Floor Area internal face of wall.
