Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Mar 28, 2011 6:02 pm both of my childrens bedrooms have open fireplaces with mantels in them. we do not use the fireplaces at all and am deciding whether i should paint the inside of the fireplace the same coulor of the walls and mantel or a different colour. the walls are antique white usa with the mantel in the same but gloss. i dont want to draw attention to the open fieplace rather just want it to fade in the room - so i presume painting it the same would do this effect?? sound right. thanks anyone. Re: to paint the inside of open fireplace or not 2Mar 28, 2011 6:14 pm If the internals of the fireplace has been used in the past and you want to paint the internal faces a light colour make sure that the surfaces are very well sealed or tars and creosote can bleed through the paint. Re: to paint the inside of open fireplace or not 4Mar 28, 2011 7:58 pm I am no expert but I would be inclined to paint it the same colour and add a feature above the fireplace. Perhaps a mirror or artwork or something that draws your eye up and away from the internals of it? Like I said though I am no expert it's just an idea...I guess it's not to large an area and if you are not happy you can always repaint just the interior. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: to paint the inside of open fireplace or not 8Mar 31, 2011 3:22 pm Thanks to those that replied we have painted the inside of the fireplace and it looks good!! http://s1181.photobucket.com/albums/x43 ... nt=021.jpg Re: to paint the inside of open fireplace or not 9Mar 31, 2011 3:52 pm oh very nice jtnru!!! Hi all, My first post, we are building a house and can’t decide the layout of the lounge room. We have a large N/W facing window and are wanting to have a wood slow… 0 13694 No the fireplace doesn’t work. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 11530 I would probably render it and then paint it as per your other advice, or gyrpock over the top. 1 3303 |
