I thing it would look vibrant with the red, and kept fresh with white. I'd use the red as more of an accent colour though so it's not too overbearing. I imagine white furniture, with fresh white bed sheets, then quilt cover in a combo of red, white and deep beige, a couple of red cushions or ornaments, and a touch of red in the wall art too. If it were me I'd keep curtains fairly neutral in white or matching the walls but in an interesting texture or pattern so they don't detract from the other elements. Just my thoughts... We already have furniture which is a brown/light walnut shade (double bunks) but I think that teaming it with deep beige and red and maybe a splash of blue is an excellent idea and bring some white into the palate as well to freshen it up. I'm hoping to avoid a particular theme (eg cars) but go with more a mix of patterns so it will stay with the boys as they grow older. White timber furniture probably would have looked better but the stained timber for me tends to wear a little better.
