Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Feb 18, 2011 10:02 am We are getting new vinyl plank flooring (timber look) in our lounge, dining and kitchen which is an open plan I think you would say. I was thinking we may as well paint these rooms before we lay it especially since we have removed a built in bookcase so there is a part not painted and also because these rooms are a yellow colour that I don't like. The problem is that I am not good at picking colours so thought I would run it past you. I wouldn't say the room is the lightest but its not to dark. Everyone says Hog Bristle but I think it is a little yellow (is this correct??) My friend has Blind date and I love it but think it is a little to dark. So I was thinking Buff it or even Buff it half. With white trims. What do you think? Does anyone have any pics of it. Does it throw off a particular colour? ANy other colours you suggest? Thanks for you help Re: Living area colour help please!! 3Feb 18, 2011 10:53 am To decide what strength to go, grab a colour card and take it home to compare against your existing walls. I'm always surprised at how dark half or even quarter can look once you put it against existing walls. Re: Living area colour help please!! 4Feb 19, 2011 2:52 am Hi lena, Have a look at Stormy's thread, she used "Nomadic Ivory" throughout her home and it's gorgeous! Not sure which company makes it, but I'm sure it's mentioned in her thread. Good luck! Re: Living area colour help please!! 5Feb 19, 2011 5:12 pm Hi, we have Buff It half as our main wall colour. I've been amazed at how different it can look depending on how much light/sun it gets. On a shadowed wall you can definitely see some depth to it but if the wall or room is very well lit it can almost appear white. It doesn't really throw any colour, fairly neutral, if anything it's gray based but with just a touch of warmth. At first I thought the painters must have ordered 1/4 strength due to the lightness in some areas and in fact the colour looks to be between 1/2 and 1/4 strength on my colour card. On the whole I'm happy with it but next time would go a little warmer. 3 5549 CDC Housing Code 3 When to apply Floor Area external face of wall vs Gross Floor Area internal face of wall.
