Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Feb 17, 2011 11:39 pm Hi everyone, This is my first post here. I’m not a big DIY person and I pretty much signed up with a specific question I was hoping you guys could help me out with. Also I’m a Pom – go easy on me! I found this forum and you guys look pretty well informed so I thought I’d ask about this here. I’m thinking about buying a wall mural for my house, and I need to know how easy they are to put up. I’ve got a big blank white wall in my bedroom I’ve been looking to do something with for a while now. My new office at work has a wall mural that looks really good and I decided to look into wall murals. I’ve found a company in my city that do personalised wall murals and I think I’m going to go with them. Only issue I’m having is that their fitting service is optional, and it’s something like another £150 to have them install it for you, so I’m considering putting it up myself to save some money. I sent the company an email asking about this and they recommend I get it fitted by them. They sent me these instructions on how to put the mural up yourself: http://www.thewowwall.com/index.php?user=home&page=WallMuralInstructions Do you think this process is easy enough for me to do myself, or do you think I should just fork out the extra money? I’ve put up wallpaper before and had no problems, but this job sounds a bit more complicated. Any help from people who’ve fitted murals themselves would be especially good, thanks. Re: Wall mural advice 2Feb 19, 2011 4:55 pm If I was purchasing a mural I would ask them to fix it on the wall for me. I would be bound to make a mistake and wreck the mural. Looks too hard to do! They are professionals and it takes a lot of experience to get the finish that they would. They are used to handling material of that size, and getting just the right lineup and overlap of the print. If you can afford it, go with the professional installation or I feel you may regret it. Re: Wall mural advice 6Feb 24, 2011 7:38 pm Excellent move by getting someone who knows what they are doing!
