Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Feb 16, 2011 10:43 am I have a long wall in my study and want to design a work place with 2 desks for the computer, cupboards and shelving. Laminex would be good as it is practical and hard wearing. I am having trouble deciding on what colours and style of laminex to use. My walls are Dulux self destruct with Hog Bristle ceiling and trim with off white plantation shutters and taupe carpet. Can anyone suggest a colour scheme? Also would love to see photos of study work areas for some ideas. Thanks! Building in Bella Vista Waters Sydney. I'm in the process of making a room in my house into a library and am using Billy shelves from Ikea (as they're relatively cheap!) which are an off white colour. Anyway, for some reason your color scheme and plans reminded me a little of the study constructed by one of the teams on "The Block" (which I actually hardly ever watched) last year. Hopefully this link takes you to some pics http://channelnine.ninemsn.com.au/slide ... reveal_wk1 Good luck Re: Laminex desks and bookcase / cupboards in study 3Feb 16, 2011 6:10 pm Hi Kerrin, hope all is well with you? How daring do you want to go? Or are you looking for something that blends in? By the way I’m waiting for my rep next Monday to swop my laminex books over, then I’ll have the latest colours. I hope to have time over the next few days to put up some photos of our new home. I have been waiting for the landscapers and pool guys for weeks and was wanting to have photos of the finished pool! I am happy to go a little daring. Dont want plain old boring stuff but dont want something that I will tire of looking at either. I love all the stripey laminates such as espresso ligna and fudge stream and also like tawny linewood. husk. Could perhaps mix one of those with a plain colour and do some gloss doors /draws? I would to hear any of your suggestion as you are so clever with colours. thank you for taking the time to help me. I dont have any samples as yet - have just looked on the laminate web site so I may be way off with my colours. Building in Bella Vista Waters Sydney. Might play off really nicely against the self destruct. Something like Formica Antler? http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl= ... 36&bih=644 I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. And I love Oyster linea Joles - I thought of green and have that as an option as I have a green sofa in the same room - but the beigy taupes are my fav at the moment. Dont worry Michelle! Take your time in replying. We are all busy and I am in no rush. Building in Bella Vista Waters Sydney. I love that lay out. Made my job easy. Will just add some extra filing drawers in the centre so I can do away with the ugly grey filing cabinet. Building in Bella Vista Waters Sydney. We have Fudge Stream on the back of our kitchen island (which I love) and I'm thinking about using it again for desktops in our activity room. Just a thought - how about using fudge stream or another "feature" laminate on open shelving above your desk, like the profile shelf in Erin's kitchen above the sink, and a plain desktop. That way the tidier feature shelving will draw your attention away from a messier desk (perhaps)? Re: Laminex desks and bookcase / cupboards in study 15Feb 21, 2011 7:16 pm I’ve been playing on the new Laminex website. Not looking good at all, I can’t copy and past colours from their site, nor can I save colours as a jpeg. Not happy, back to where I was a year ago with Dulux and their new site. Fortunately Dulux changed their site so we can all have access to the colours. Not sure if I can have the same pull with Laminex!! Slightly upset at this stage!!! Will see what I can do......
