Yes, another one! I've spent the last two days searching this forum and many more but I am still confused.
I need to select a white paint for the walls of my house and want to make sure it complements my existing choices. It's for a renovated/rebuilt terrace home which is modern on the inside. The house faces south, so with the lounge/dining/kitchen area at the back there is plenty of sunlight in these areas. There are some bits of the house that are a bit dark, though. I have spotted gum flooring throughout, with a taupey carpet in the bedrooms upstairs and cloudy white and neutral grey tiles in the bathrooms and ensuites. My kitchen has polar white cabinetry up top, and glossy black on the bottom cabinets with 'pure white' caesarstone bench tops. The bathrooms and ensuites are polar white and pure white tops.
I've gone for a very monochromatic design template, mostly because it suits the furniture I chose (mostly black leather, black glass and some dark timber and chrome) and love but also because I have a fair bit of artwork and vases etc in bright colours. I am yet to chose a splash back or my window dressings.
I am certain that I will use vivid white for my ceilings, skirting and doors throughout, as well as on the bathroom and toilet walls to match the tiles. As for the walls, I'm stuck between whisper white and lexicon half. I love the look of whisper white with black furniture and pure white ceilings, however I'm scared that it will look dirty next to my kitchen cabinets and brightly coloured accessories. However, lexicon half might look too cool and make a monochromatic colour scheme look scary! I'm also worried about the south facing bedrooms and what the colours might look like there with minimal light.
What do you all reckon? Whisper white or lexicon half next to a polar white kitchen?? I have asked SO many people today at work and the opinions were definitely mixed.
PS would love to go to the house and test it myself with some sample pots, but I just don't have the time as its so far away and the kitchens and floors aren't in yet.
Keen to hear opinions. Sorry for yet ANOTHER white paint thread.
