Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jan 14, 2011 4:29 pm I can only talk Dulux here, as I haven't used another brand of paint since making the mistake of using a cheap paint on the stairs and landing of a 3 storey home 12 years ago (you guessed it, re-painted it in Dulux a few moths later!) I have a small bathroom to paint and I imagine that moisture could be an issue. Are the special kitchen and bathroom paints with mold inhibitor worth it? I do everyhting else in low sheen but can I get away with it for the bathroom or should I use the semi-gloss version? Antique white USA is the colour. Re: Bathroom paint - low sheen or semi gloss? 2Jan 14, 2011 5:14 pm Who suggested it??? I’m a Dulux girl here! I always suggest semi gloss for all wet areas. I hear the mold proof paint is pretty good! So I suggest that as well. So yes, semi gloss in mold proof Dulux. In fact I had my ceilings painted in semi gloss right through, much to the disgust of my painter! Who is now a fan of semi gloss on the ceilings…….. The room was poorly ventilated and we had a real problem with mould. I used the Mouldshield as undercoat on the walls, and just on its own on the ceiling. We weren't there for a long time after - only about twelve months - but it did seem to make a difference. There was no regrowth of the mould in that time, anyway. BTW, I washed the walls down with a weak bleach solution first to kill the existing mould.
