Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jan 08, 2011 3:23 pm Our two boys (aged 4 and 1 1/2) share a large bedroom. It doesn't have any sort of design yet and I'd like to do something with it (new blind, doonas, furnishings, pictures etc) and wondering if you think I should go with a theme (eg transport) and colours or just colours so they boys could have some individuality on their beds (eg one has a car quilt and the other might have say robots). Also, Any funky ideas for a young boys' room? TIA Susan Re: Shared boy's bedroom 2Jan 08, 2011 9:27 pm Here's a link that shows lots of boys' bedrooms. There are other links on the page that take you to even more. http://www.roomzaar.com/rate-my-space/B ... allery.esi This is an article on designing shared rooms. http://www.hgtv.com/kids-rooms/designin ... index.html HTH Judie Re: Shared boy's bedroom 3Jan 09, 2011 7:12 am Hi Susan, Welcome to the forum. There are some ideas here to http://www.potterybarnkids.com/room/rom ... _type=gnav I would probably stear away from a theme as such, and maybe use colours instead. I have a 4yo and 8yo sons and know atm they wouldn't want similar themes (although older would try to influence younger ) Cheers Bel Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Shared boy's bedroom 4Jan 17, 2011 11:32 am Two of my boys currently share a room and they currently have they same bedspreads/ doona covers on their beds. At the time they were quite happy to have the same. When we move into our new house they will have separate rooms so I didn't need to worry about making the colours co-ordinate. What I did find though when looking for new bedspreads for the kids there were quite a lot of linen brands for kids where they had different designs and themes but there were quite a few designs that shared similar colours. Although I wasn't looking to match anything as they are in separate rooms I found that if that's what I wanted to do- it would have been quite easy. There are quite a few linen brands where they are obviously designed so that the selections of matching sheets and cushions can be mixed and matched with their different doona cover designs. I think it would be quite easy to pick a few colours as your base colours for the room so your boys might have the same coloured sheets and cushions but different bedspreads/ doona covers. If it were me- I would be more inclined to stick with colours than focus on a theme. Re: Shared boy's bedroom 5Mar 29, 2011 6:40 pm I am going to go with a nautical theme. I bought the nauticla themed whimsy quilt cover (can't remember what it's called) but it's cute. I am going to tee it up with a blue lighthouse lamp and maybe a blue or red feature wall.
