Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jan 05, 2011 9:40 am Hello, Can anyone help me. I am painting my whole house Sandy Day full strenght (beige colour). However the master suite, I am having a feature wall behind the bed in black and white striped wallpaper. Do I paint the rest of the master suite, white or would the other walls work in Sandy Day? Not sure if the black and white would work with beige surrounding walls. My bedding is black and silver and lamps black and silver and I have plantation shutters in white on the windows. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Re: Black and White wallpaper 2Jan 05, 2011 9:57 am Hi Jules, I love the look of black and white striped wallpaper! Can I ask where you bought yours from? I'm thinking of doing the same in my master... Although painting the surrounding colours in white would obviously match the wallpaper, Sandy Day would still look quite nice, almost unexpected...however, if you were going to paint Sandy Day, I would throw a few beige-y accessories to tie it all in (just my opinion anyway!) Kara Re: Black and White wallpaper 3Jan 05, 2011 11:15 am You can even bring the your paint colour down to a lower strength, go a half or a quarter strength in the Dulux Sandy Day, so the colour is not so strong in the masterbed but still has the same tone of the the rest of the house. http://take2-customdesigndownslope.blogspot.com 07-10-09 omg they have cut the block 14-05-10 we finally have the keys Re: Black and White wallpaper 4Jan 05, 2011 12:09 pm Jules, I think it sounds absolutely gorgeous! Not knowing the exact colour of your walls, but beige is such a neutral colour and anything will go with it, including black and white (and silver!). What colour will the floors be? I have beige/taupey walls with white plantations, and quite a bit of black accessories in the family room with white furniture. I personally LOVE the look! White may look too stark and detract from the wallpaper, while keeping with the same tonings as the rest of the house should help the other walls fade away and keep the wallpaper as the feature. Re: Black and White wallpaper 6Jan 05, 2011 1:40 pm I disagree, sorry everyone. I would suggest Sandy Day for all of your home, expect the master bedroom and unsuit. There I would use pure white on the walls. To give your black and white wall paper the maximum benefit of looking powerful, you need white walls surrounding the black and white. You already have black and silver as your bedding, adding Sanding Day is adding yet another colour to the scheme. It is so pale Ithink you could get away with it.Sorry I am a techno moron and dont know how to load a photo for you.Good luck the room sounds like it will be beautiful. Re: Black and White wallpaper 8Jan 06, 2011 9:43 am Hi All, Thanks so much for all the replys I have the painter quoting on Sat, so I will also see what he says. I didn't even think of maybe getting Sandy Day in 1/2 or 1/4 for the bedroom only. I ordered the wallpaper from Crockers Paint online and it was delivered 2 days later - great service. It will be completed soon and I will post a photo for everyone. I think either way, it's going to look fab. Jules Re: Black and White wallpaper 9Jan 06, 2011 5:21 pm Go and get some sample pot's and grab some scrap gyprock from a building site if you don't have access to the house if you do just paint a large section of the wall put it up against the wall paper it will give you a good indication off how the colours will come together.
