Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jan 05, 2011 8:50 am We would lvoe to put a mirror on this wall but we are worried about it being too big or too small, I think either way it could look a bit silly.
The wall is 4.6m and to the left is our bedroom door, and to the right are double sliding doors to the deck. I am standing in the kitchen. We are thinking that 2m would be the minimum size. Any reccommendations of style or supplier would be great. We are in Brisbane. This is the style we are looking at Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Thanks Andrea Re: What size mirror? 2Jan 05, 2011 10:18 am One about the size and length of my mirror will work for you. My mirror is 1500 long and 800 wide. See if you can find one in a timber to match your dining table. Which is why it will work. I cannot find it on their website at all which is a bit strange but I have a pic of my husband trying to hold it up in the space. It has a very wide frame which you can see in the picture, it is probably a bit more heavy looking than what we had in mind, but this was the only one we could find that was suitable. Others were too light in colour, too short, too narrow. We think this one is pretty perfect but would like to know what you think before we unwrap. My husband is a bit concerned about the length of it. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Is there a rule for how far from the ceiling we should hang it? Thanks Andrea Re: What size mirror? 6Jan 08, 2011 4:28 pm Hi Andrea, if it were me I'd hang the mirror just slightly lower than the height your husband's holding it in the photo. I can just imagine a lovely matching buffet sitting beneath it with a runner in your decor colour and something simple and special decorating it. Just an idea! Re: What size mirror? 7Jan 08, 2011 4:58 pm Hi, Thanks Pauline. We have just oredered the buffet to match the table, but unfortunately there is not enough room for the buffet to be there. It is a rather narrow space and the area between the dining room and the kitchen is a main walkway. Instead we will be placing the buffet on another wall adjacent to the kitchen with photos above it. I cannot wait to recieve it. Andrea Re: What size mirror? Updated with pics and a new question - 8Jan 09, 2011 2:26 pm Well it is all hung up and although it looks quite large now I am sure we weill get use to it.It is a great match to the table. I was going to get a quote for replacing the blue matt board with white. I guess I need to lay out the mulit frames and see what they look like next to larger pic. I was going to hang smaller wedding pic either on wall adjacent (next to the window you can see in above pic), or on other side of room. This table is the same look just a different size, and different legs. I love the look of the table and the way it extends, but the quality isn't that great. It has scratched easily and there are bits off the corners and we have no idea how it happened. Thanks for the comments on the mirror, we love it. Re: What size mirror? Updated with pics and a new question - 14Jan 09, 2011 6:24 pm The mirror is perfect. Bold but something really elegant about it and I've had my eye on that mirror at Ikea for a while now. Nice to see it in a real room. Re: What size mirror? Updated with pics and a new question - 15Jan 12, 2011 10:48 pm I love the original mirror you posted but then I read Michelle's advice and wow was she spot on! it looks fantastic. good thing you didn't go with your first choice. btw have you considered putting a rug under the dining table/chairs?
