Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jan 03, 2011 8:39 pm Hi all We are renovating our lounge room and I have spotted a couple of simple chairs on ebay that I like. Would need reupholstering though. Has anyone done this with success? Also would like to get an idea of cost? I realise it all depends on the quality of fabric, etc, but just need a ballpark. The chairs are not big, no arms, just a seat and back. Apparently the cushions are in good order, I just dont like the fabric! If anyone has any recommendations (Melbourne) that would be great too! Many thanks Re: Anyone tried reupholstering chairs? 2Jan 03, 2011 8:44 pm Hi Newby, There is a thread or two in here that shows how to do it by different members - let me see if I can find them for you. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=19175&p=255556&hilit=+recover+chair#p255556 viewtopic.php?f=6&t=18593&hilit=chair viewtopic.php?f=6&t=18085&p=226073&hilit=chair#p226073 Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Anyone tried reupholstering chairs? 3Jan 08, 2011 5:33 pm I am having a couple done at the moment. They are lounge chairs which are totally upholstered (ie. back, rolled arms, back cushion etc) and 2 cushions. It is costing $700- per chair, including material. The material is a black 'warwick' brand suede, material. The type that doesn't stain etc. Hope that helps I was quoted approx. $200- to rebuils a dining chair seat (seat totally gone) and upholster it, including a quite expensive material. If that sound of interest I can give you his number. Re: Anyone tried reupholstering chairs? 5Jan 10, 2011 7:47 am It is relatively easy to do (my thread is the first one bel listed) and so inexpensive. I think it cost me about $50 to do six chairs and I still have some material left. I didn't even remove the old covers, just covered straight over the top. You just unscrew the bases, cut the material to size and carefully staple it one. The corners are the tricky bit but check out how the original ones were done and just repeat. You get so much better at it as you go along. Then just screw the seats back on. Have a go yourself. Good luck.
