Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Nov 22, 2010 9:18 pm We need to finish off our bedroom and the wall above our bed is begging for a bit of art. I really love this style, but don't want to spend the $200 or $400 they're asking. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the plan: Buy a canvas. Use puffy paint for texture. Paint a darker colour, then let dry. Paint with white (or a lighter colour) and wipe while still wet for a "see through" effect. The problem is that I have no idea if puffy paint exists! Is there such a thing? Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could use to add some texture? Re: Puffy Paint?? 5Nov 22, 2010 10:59 pm I'll recommend you get some gesso from the art & craft shop - get the artist quality not the budget or student one. Cover your canvas with a coat of gesso using a brush (wet the brush first time before dipping in gesso). Let the canvas dry. You can use plaster/cornice adhesive if you want to add bulk and create the shapes. Use another coat of gesso after the plaster is dry to seal and bind the plaster and create a nice surface for the paint to stick. Then proceed with applying the paint coats. If using acrylic paints apply a coat of varnish at the end after the paint is dry - e.g. Atelier one from art shops - you can use the matt or glossy one - it's your choice. Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7170 Thank you.
