Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Nov 28, 2007 10:09 pm Hi Michelle,
I'm hoping you can give me some advice regarding carpet color because I can't decide between a mushroomy color or chocolate brown. The color scheme for the house so far is as follows: Walls - wattyl chalk beige 3 x feature walls - wattyl seductress Architraves/skirting/cornices etc - wattyl chalk dust Kitchen and bathroom cabinets - ebony macassar laminate Tiles - urban earth color (latte) Kitchen bench - Quartz royal base We're also wanting to get dark plantation shutters throughout the house. I'm worried the choc brown may be too dark. Your thoughts? Thanks in advance for your help. Mikita Re: Which would you choose? 2Nov 28, 2007 10:42 pm I know nothing about colour, but can say one thing...
Don't get a chocolate brown carpet... Or I'll have to come over to your place and rip it out! Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: Which would you choose? 3Nov 28, 2007 11:28 pm Colour schemes need to be seen together. I'd suggest not having really dark carpet. Mid tone is probably more suitable. There are heaps of colours & shades, as well as textures that can be chosen. You have to consiedr the light in the rooms too. Will leave this to Mish.

Sorry….had an early night last night!!! ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Which would you choose? 5Nov 29, 2007 5:27 pm Mikita…..I tend to stay away from DARK colours on the floor if I can.
Depending on the building project, it can really pull a room in, and they show EVERYTHING!!!! I’m a big fan of the Mushroom shades though; I think they look really smart. Your “Chalk Beige” is a stunning colour, well done. I can see how both Chocolate and the Mushroom would go well. Taking into consideration the dark Plantation Shutters…..I would go the Mushroom shade. I’m getting a picture of some very dark zones in your home otherwise. ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Which would you choose? 7Nov 29, 2007 6:51 pm Ohhhhh please…..I’m getting a mental picture!!!!!

I'm thinking you're right. We were going by the display home, which we love and it has chocolate brown carpet.
Have a look at this link and select the keysborough or caroline springs display, you'll see what I mean. http://www.porterdavis.com.au/#homeviewer/Hamilton/35 Mind you, the plantation shutters aren't dark... ![]() Re: Which would you choose? 12Nov 29, 2007 9:25 pm WOW nice homes!!!!
I can see why so many of you go with PD now!!! The home I looked at has cream carpet…..dark shutters…..can you see what I mean about the dark carpet? I kept looking at the photos imagining the chocolate and it would mean darker rooms. Leaning more and more towards a mushroomy color. Not sure about the Brinton though, Ash ![]() Re: Which would you choose? 15Nov 29, 2007 10:36 pm Get a few samples of carpet, the chocolate and the Mushroom colours.
Put them with your selections and furniture and see what you think. Better to do your homework first and get it right, than to make a mistake. ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Which would you choose? 16Nov 29, 2007 10:41 pm ![]() Get a few samples of carpet, the chocolate and the Mushroom colours. As I said before, we really liked the display home and thought we were pretty certain on the chocolate. But we took home a mushroom sample as well and then the seed of doubt was planted. We've gone with pretty neutral colors (apart from the red feature walls) so it's not really a question of matching - more about how dark the house will be. I asked to speak to people who were currently building and have been going through the worst of it.
