I purchased nearly all of my furniture and other decor on Ebay or Gumtree and from antique stores and markets. If you are looking for an eclectic look then try some online auction sites. I have come across some fabulous things that I have yet to find again - and so reasonably priced! I find retail stores can be rather restrictive as styles come and go. I love wingback chairs for instance and have been going from store to store completely disappointed in the quality and the price tag. I was unable to find anything under $1,500 a chair. Just picked up two antique wingbacks that have been recently upholstered in NZ suede and are in mint condition - $750 for the pair. Bargain! Good choice on the neutral palette. It's so much easier to work with. I started out with a whole lot of colours and then found it difficult to match drapes, cushions, furniture and bed linen so have instead chosen neutrals throughout. So much simpler. Depending on the shade of red and the amount used I would say any colour could be applied although I wouldn't risk yellow or another warm colour. Try to pick up a few more matching red kitchen items. Kitchen scales, utensils, knife blocks etc. Perhaps then run that colour throughout the common areas with a few cushions, a feature wall, a throw, a painting, an armchair etc. My kitchen is an ivory french provincial style and I purchased pastel coloured utensils, scales, mixers etc. There are heaps of red kitchen pieces on Ebay. I've always liked black, white and red together. In good proportions it's a striking look without being too harsh. I think the turquoise could work. I once used red, black and aubergine. Sometimes going a bit mismatched works well. The eclectic look is popular afterall. I actually think the green and red would work quite well. It's festive and yet quite natural in cohesion.
