Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Nov 02, 2010 9:28 am Need some advice. We are looking at painting the exterior of our house in Dulux Soft Suede or Dulux Soft Chamois. I am not conviced that this will look good. Fear it will come out looking yellow! We are having white window frames, fascia, bargeboards & verandah posts and depending on render colour either a shale grey or windspray roof. Shale grey with soft chamois Windspray with soft suede Would love some advice on whether either of these colours will work for the exterior. Kinda have a deadline now with the builder as he wants to get started in a couple of weeks and wants to order roofing. http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee418/NitchFarms/20101027_20.jpg This is a photo I took of the colours painted out on an old stone shed we have! The darker of the yellowy colours is soft suede and the darker of the greys is the windspray roof! I thought I had this colour thing all sorted but now coming to the crunch I'm questioning everything Re: Really worried about exterior render colour 2Nov 02, 2010 1:17 pm What style of home are you having? Otherwise im undecided Re: Really worried about exterior render colour 4Nov 02, 2010 2:48 pm Michelle What style of home are you having? Hi Michelle Here is the elevation picture to our home http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee418/NitchFarms/001-1.jpg Hubby wants a sandstone kind of colour. I would like a traditional homestead look, hubby wants a bit of modern element to it!! I'm just not sure these are the right colours, I have also tried Wattyl Honey Tree but still not getting the right colour. I liked the soft suede in the paint charts and a colour consultant from Adelaide actually told us to go with soft chamois but still not convinced these are right for the kind of look I am trying to achieve. Your opinion would be most appreciated Re: Really worried about exterior render colour 5Nov 02, 2010 6:23 pm I have to say I quite like the soft chamois with white accents/ windows, post ect. I think the colour will work with your style of home well, which is why I asked what style you are having. Get a sample pot and paint it up on cardboard or an old board do 2 coats and put it out in the sun, I think you will find if will be a nice colour. BUT remember, your home has good size verandas around it so some parts will be darker. All the more interesting! Re: Really worried about exterior render colour 7Mar 29, 2011 8:16 am Hi Shakyreno! The house has recently been rendered. We finally went with a colour from Solver Paints called Citron. I am no good with colours and what works well and what doesn't I just knew what we personally were trying to achieve. We hired an interior decorator who is helping us with all our colour choices and I can tell you I could not be happier with our exterior, it is exactly (if not better) than I imagined. Here is a picture ( house still under construction but you can see all the colours working together http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee418/NitchFarms/20110329_4.jpg Exterior colours are: Roof: Colorbond SHale grey Gutters & garage doors: Colorbond Ironstone Fascia: surfmist WIndows, verandah posts: white Re: Really worried about exterior render colour 8Mar 30, 2011 6:17 pm Very nice!!! I like the Shale Grey/Surfmist/Ironstone combo - I wouldn't have thought of that. I ended up going Shale Grey roof too, with Shale Grey gutters. Going Dulux Swampy for weatherboards with white architraves and trim. Not sure about facia yet... Re: Really worried about exterior render colour 10May 02, 2011 10:42 pm I think you have done a really good job. On paper your colour scheme does not do the final result any justice. Well done. do not pay until you are satisfied with workmanship windows require flashing over the head archithrave and up under weatherboards 3 28277 Hi, Currently building, we are on a sloping block so we have from floor level to the roof in axon cladding.
