Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Oct 29, 2010 9:06 pm We want to put a feature wall colour in the stairwell but after buying 7-8 sample pots, we are still at a loss as to what looks good. The house is a contemporary style with lots of windows. Flooring is blackbutt. Internal walls will be Antique White USA with natural white ceiling and trims. DH would like a feature wall with a greenish tint. Does anyone have any suggestions? Re: Feature wall colour in stairwell to match Antique White 2Oct 29, 2010 10:47 pm What's the main tone of your furnishings? Does the wall itself get lots of light or a little? Do you want a green green or another colour with a green undertone? All that info helps in picking a colour. Judie The wall is away from the main living area and there are quite a few windows in the adjacent wall. The main furnishishing will be predominantly white or cream with a dash of red. We are probably wanting a colour with green undertone - at the moment we are thinking of Handmade linen but not sure if that is a good choice. The other question is - is it ridiculous to put in different colour wall for the different bedroom for a contemporary house. We are also thinking of putting in different coloured walls (and feature walls) for each of the bedroom but most magazines I've looked at for the expensive homes seem to have the same or similar colour throughout. Re: Feature wall colour in stairwell to match Antique White 4Oct 31, 2010 7:56 am I prefer one colour throughout; the only time I change is when doing wet areas and tiles don’t match the flow colour. I use white for the wet areas so everything complements each other. If your colour is light enough, I do the ceilings the same colour as well, then feature walls. We've decided to just stick with antique white USA for most rooms and natural white for ceilings and trim. Will add handmade linen as feature wall to 1 hallway and the master bedroom . Re: Feature wall colour in stairwell to match Antique White 6Oct 31, 2010 11:41 am I think it depends on your taste, the room and the feel you want to create. I love the look of white in magazines, and have done the main room of our house white/ neutral colors. However, have just done one of the bedrooms and felt it needed a bit of something, plus, being on the south side it was a little 'moody' anyway. I decided to go a color and did a blue/ grey (explorer blue) from porters on the wall. Ceilings, window, timber work and blinds are white. I love it, it really suits the room, and visitors all love it. I have the same color ceiling and woodwork / doors, throughout the house and have kept the furniture the same (white or timber), and decor ( neutral/ white) to tie in with the main room and rest of the house Looking for advice on whether this variation in tile colour is acceptable.
