Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Oct 20, 2010 8:09 pm Hi all, I'm trying to source a particular paint colour for my exterior. I am after a pale blue/violet/lavender/periwinkle shade. Not too purple, not too blue - something in between and a nice soft and pale tone without being too wishy washy. Fussy yes but I am female! I was thinking perhaps Dulux Pax or Dulux Pensive (most likely 1/2 or 1/4). Any suggestions appreciated. I have attached a photo of what is reasonably close to what I am after but I require something a bit more pale. Thanks! Re: Please put a name to my colour! :) 4Oct 20, 2010 9:04 pm I just painted a bedroom in Porters 'Explorer Blue'.(Which I love ) It is a blue of the similar tone to the one in the picture (I think), a grey / blue tone. I think on the outside it would be similar color depth to that in the picture Re: Please put a name to my colour! :) 5Oct 20, 2010 9:12 pm donuts do you have an iphone? apparently dulux have an application where you can point your phone to a colour and it gives you the best match. it sounds FUN! lol Really, it can do that? ...Puts on blindfold and and ear muffs.... I like all of the colours mentioned but they all seem a little too dark. Can't really tell until it's on the wall I guess. I might have to get a few samples and find an inconspicuous place to slap some paint on. Near the air-conditioning boxes perhaps! Has anyone ever tried Dulux pensive or pax? I like the look of the two. It's for a small cottage which has agapanthas in raised beds at the front so I'm thinking the lavender blue colour will go nicely on the exterior. Spesh with a white trim. I'm not looking for a modern look so I've decided to steer clear of neutrals for the exterior as I'd like a cutesy cottage feel. You can tell I'm not male. Appreciate everyones advice thus far. Will have to get an i-phone now. How nifty! Re: Please put a name to my colour! :) 8Oct 21, 2010 5:10 pm Remember in full sunlight the colour will be softer (most times). Buy a large poster / canvas and paint it with a sample pot. Then sit in the sunlight and see how it reacts to full / partial light and shade. Some things are worth waiting for.
