Opening and closing the treatment will also put extra strain on the rod. The issue will be of a sagging rod which is something that may not happen straight away. Cheers Lou Thanks Lou - I think panel glides will be the best option. I was hoping to get away with some cheap eyelet curtains as finances will be quite (very) tight for some time after we move in. I really like the Ikea panels with different patterns in the same colour palette - don't know if they are still selling them or whether they've gone out of vogue? Ours were custom-made, but the ones at Ikea are pretty good too (brother has them). They've got some nice patterned ones as well.
