Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 07, 2010 2:19 am Hi Michelle I've enjoyed reading about other peoples colour jouney's but now mine begins. I have a 1918 federation house I'm restoring, but the front has been rendered in P&O style. I'll be trying to remove as much of that influence as possible to get back to original style but colours are giving me a small amount of grief. I so far want white exterior with a yellow entry door and dark grey (or black) trim. I had chosen dulux goldrush for the door but now wish to tone it down to less of a roadsign orange and more of a sunshine yellow. The interior colour was going to be Antique USA and I was hoping to do the outside the same, but next to the Goldrush it appears pinkish. So I need to pick a white that's easy on my eyes but also helps my feature colours to pop. The new door arrives this week so I'll need to decide on the yellow soon. Right now the house is pastel pink with brown trim so the new door will look quite odd until we've finished the rest of the front. People make one happy, not houses? I do not think so. Can you post me a pic of the front of your house? I have pics on the front page of my blog below if you can be bothered clicking through. Today I went to get sample pots as my front door has arrived and wants painting in a bright sunny yellow. Paint man said that my chosen colours aren't available in external due to fade factors. I have a feeling that any yellow will be hard to get as the best paint man offered me was a marine grade oil based gloss known as marker yellow, which he wasn't happy about me using due to the finish. It's to be applied to a timber entry door so I want it to be shmick. So I don't have a yellow sample but I was hoping for either Dulux Goldrush or Wattyl Helios (can't find code). They're two very different yellows but initially the goldrush made Antique USA (my previously preferred white) appear pinkish in tone so I decided to tone down. I might have to try Porters but this door will be south facing so I don't know that fade will be such an issue if someone will mix it for me. My difficulty is finding the right tones so that the walls will look white, the trim looks dark grey or black and the entry door is bright yellow. I'm hoping to do a call around in the morning, to further explore yellow options but at the moment have chosen sample pots in : Wattyl's Moody White (E12W) for interior walls and trim and external walls. Wattyl's Colourbond Nightsky (A29W) - not that big a fan of Colorbond colours but it was the darkest I could find. I would prefer a dark dark grey to black but will see how this goes for now. Sorry this post is a bit blathery. I'm thrown that I can't get what I want, when I want. Any thoughts? People make one happy, not houses? I do not think so. Houses are more to be trusted than people. Elizabeth Aston, Mr. Darcy's Daughters http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmDX0tgONFs http://lightndreamy.blogspot.com/ Thankyou for your advice. We do have Caesar coming out and hopefully resolve the issue for us. 4 18756 Hi guys, I want to do some floor levelling before laying the planks and am considering doing it with self-levelling or yellow tongue PB board. I am wondering which one… 0 6556 The warning is on the sticker on the door too. Second the aluminium powdercoat 6 18204 |
