Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 05, 2010 11:05 pm Hi guys. I have only pretty much been in the Building a New House threads but noticed this topic and although its an Interior Lounge thread thought i would see if i can get some amateur or professional advice anyway. Currently at the colour stage in regards to buillding our first new home and am getting differing opinions from designers which is somewhat to be expected. It certainly doesn't make it any easier when you are a first timer as we are already second guessing ourselves on a lot of things relating to the build. Our house will be bagged and is Kellys Armour(Grey). Our roof is Caper Horizon tiles and the colours we have seen on a display home are Gutter-Woodland Grey and Fascia-Surfmist. Whilst we like the contrast a designer with the company we are building with suggested to match up the gutter-fascia and go with Surfmist whereas a family member designer suggested that a lot of modern homes do match the colours but went the other way with both being Woodland Grey. What do you guys think? Leaning towards both being WG or leaving as the original contrast. Thanks in advance. Help............ Otherwise having 2 different colours can draw your eye to the guttering, in a way it draws a line around your house and splits the house into 2, 1 being the roof and then 2 being the facade. You want people to look at your lovely facade rather than the gutter and fascia. I would go with both being Woodland Grey. I have this on my house as well and it looks great. Hope this helps. Re: External colours-Gutter and Fascia 3Sep 12, 2010 10:40 pm Thanks for that blues and thats the way we ended up going. All colours now sorted except for the tiles. Now we just have to decide whether to stick with Caper which is lighter than we first thought now having seen it on a house or go the darker Barramundi. Building The Monte Carlo with PR-MJ Re: External colours-Gutter and Fascia 4Sep 13, 2010 8:07 am Yes Caper is lighter when on a whole house. I quite like Barramundi. It really depends on your render/bag colour which one will go better. I dont have a sample of the render/bag colour so I cant help here. But im sure you will pick the right one. Good luck. Re: External colours-Gutter and Fascia 5Jan 03, 2011 9:41 pm we are getting a colorbond monument roof/fascia/gutter. Downpipes are paperbark. Have been really confused on whether we should get paperbark fascia as well. Our thought was that the existing look may end up being too black and paperbark fascia would break things up a bit - what do people think? Re: External colours-Gutter and Fascia 6Jan 03, 2011 11:39 pm I agree, im an interior designer as well. You should never really use more than three colours on the exterior of your house. If in doubt get a colour consultant to come and do you pre-start with you. It is totally worth the money I would keep the facia the same colour as the gutters it is such a small part of the facade and does not need to made a feature.
