that way it will not have brush or roller marks
That's what I suggested to them too - seemed logical to me...?! But was still steered away from it - too hard basket I figured!

Re: Anyone painted with the Dulux metallic colours? 24Sep 03, 2010 9:47 pm You may have seen these pics of mine in Jazz and Brett's thread. I did the wall behind our bed in main bedroom in the metallic called Neutral Intrigue. Only did one coat in the criss cross with a wide brush. Had planned on doing two but used the whole 1L can ($60 worth) on the first coat and it looks great so didn't need a second, though the can does recommend it. Wasn't hard to paint on at all. Would definately be more difficult to roll on if you were after a 'flat' or 'seamless' look. Heaps of people comment and nearly everyone walks over to touch it, most think it's wallpaper or something. Anyway, here are the best pics I have: During the day before we moved in Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ At night Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Building the Pl@ntation Retreat on 4009m2. It looks completely different when brushed on to when it is sprayed ... sorry for the captain obvious statement there, but it looks so different to the paint that I saw in the display home. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Anyone painted with the Dulux metallic colours? 26Sep 04, 2010 3:24 am there are other brands of metallics too Wattyl does one too I went outside once. Re: Anyone painted with the Dulux metallic colours? 27Sep 28, 2010 11:45 pm Im a painter and have used this product before, It IS difficult to use and time consumeing. a contractor on a new house would need to charge in the vicinity of $500 for a feature wall in order to make a profit. the crosshatch pattern is far easier than trying to produce a 'flat' finish. to do the cross hatch pattern do 1 or 2 coats with brush and roller untill covered, then do the crosshatch, being carefull not to get bigger as you go...lol... do some scrap first to get your croshatching hand in. a 'smooth' finish is impossible without spraying and you will probably even see the brushmarks around the edges after you do the crosshatching. spraying metalic paint is not easy.. ask a spraypainter.. lines and variations in the finish are almost unavoidable with the equiptment available to most house painters. the entire area must be masked of from the rest of the house, unless you want your house to glitter expect to pay $800 or so if you want a smooth (sprayed) finish.... consider that a respray of a car in perfect condition with metallic paint would cost over $5000 and is much the same process as is required for this product. Re: Anyone painted with the Dulux metallic colours? 28Sep 29, 2010 9:13 am Thanks wolf .... as I have no intention of ever painting a house again myself (been there, done that and it looked crap ), it means I'll be paying a professional. I was thinking of having the whole media room sprayed in the metallic, but I'd say a good chunk of my painting budget would be eaten up by one room, so I think I need to look at non metallic options. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again.
