I found this forum when I was desperately searching for some advice. I wanted to repaint the whole house but being that it's only 4 years old I wasn't successful in convincing hubby so we compromised and he said he'd paint features thoroughout the house and repaint all the skirtings and eventually he'll repaint the ceiling
On a whim I picked a colour and we purchased a sample pot which hubby has painted on the wall of our breakfast bar.....I HATE it! It's not at all the look I was after!
Currently we have the following:-
Walls - Wattyl Flokati
Ceilings- Wattyl Flokati
Skirtings/architraves/internal doors - Wattyl Reiki
Our carpet is basically the same colour and toning as the reiki as are our kitchen cupboards (they are actually tesrol in the colour oyster) our benchtops are a black granite look alike stuff. Our furniture is mostly dark chocolate pieces. The tiles which are right throughout our house are polished porcelain in a very light neutral stoney beige colour.
So now that I've given a bit of an idea of what we currently have, I'll tell you what the plan was. We were going to leave the walls and ceiling as flokati (hubby hadn't agreed to paint the ceilings at that stage!) and we were repainting the skirtings, architraves and doors in flokati gloss (which we have purchased 6 litres of) as after 4 years I have well and truly tired of seeing the reiki and we were going to use Dulux Time Capsule as the feature wall colour. I was stoked that hubby agreed to paint but now I HATE the Time Capsule, it's way too dark for the look I was trying to achieve, too similar to the reiki that I'm sick of seeing and it's just too brown!
So after agonising all day and lots of googling colours, I have come up with another plan...
Walls - leave as flokati
Ceilings - leave as flokati for now but when we have more cash repaint them in a white or off white
Skirtings/doors - I would have prefered to repaint a lighter colour (white/off white colour) but as we now have 6 litres of flokati I can live with that I think.
Feature wall - Wattyl White pepper (same colour feature walls to run throughout house)
So...after all that can I ask for some advice on whether you feel the white pepper will tone in nicely with the other colours we have in our house? This is the look I love and am trying to semi recreate utilising what we already have. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2157/242 ... d9f332.jpg
Could you also advise me of a good colour to use for the ceilings that will work with the wall and feature wall colour as well as our existing decor?
Many many thanks in advance, I'm sorry this is so long I just wanted to try and give you a full picture so to speak to make it as easy as possible to try and give me some advice

Hi and welcome!
I think this will help you out! A pic of Flokati walls and a White Pepper feature on the right. Ceiling is white. Not sure what the trim colour is though. The Flokati and White Pepper go really well together!

Thanks Joles, that is actually the picture I've copied and pasted into my original post that I'm drawing inspiration from and trying to recreate! hehe I love the look of the white pepper with the flokati in that picture, my main concern is the white pepper working with the rest of our colour scheme (carpet, kitchen cupboards etc). I thought about Dulux Hog bristle and I LOVE the colour but I don't think it'll work in our house, I think it's a touch too yellow? Thoughts?

Sorry, I completely missed your link in the first post. I really need to read things properly.
Have you got a pic of your tiles? I know Haywgl on the forum has Flokati throughout and a White Pepper feature wall in her living area and she has dark chocolate furniture, and it looks wonderful. If your tiles are more on the stoney side rather than a really yellowy beige, I think it will look great! I'll see if I can find a pic of her place.
I'm the last person to ask about Hog's Bristle, I have an allergy to that colour.
OK, a pic of Haywgl's place. White Pepper wall on the left, Flokati on the right and chocolate furniture!
Edited to add pic.

I don't have a pic of our tiles and it's too dark and the lighting in our house too bad for me to get a decent pic but this photo http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_stBKzgfEm9U/S ... /tiles.jpg is basically a perfect representation of our tiles.

Thanks for the input so far guys, I really appreciate it
Does anyone else have any advice? Or possibly a suggestion for another/better feature wall colour instead of white pepper, to go with our colour scheme?
Anyone with any comments on the white pepper toning in with our kitchen cupboards? I'm quite confident that the white pepper will be ok with our tiles and the rest of our paintwork etc but I am quite concerned about it toning in with our kitchen cupboards as our kitchen is part of a very big open area in which one wall we had planned to paint so it will have to be able to tone in.

Just stumbled across this thread while looking for paint colours for walls- I love how the colours look Joles- I'm filing away the wall colour and also feature wall colour for the future. Do you think it would look ok with white oak limed floors and dark wenge furniture?

I'm watching this thread. I've been agonising for weeks over what colour of timber-look tile to go for. I'm thinking of chocolate furniture and feature doors.
