As you can hopefully see, the colours aren't to everyones taste! It is in a hinterland setting but high up and relatively close to the road so it is very prominent. It has a white roof which we presume is Surfmist, Woodland Grey gutters and white facia. The balustrades are a colour that I would best describe as Blue Ridge which has faded over the past 10 years. We are in SE QLD so it can get pretty bright most of the year. We are considering Dune for the main colour, very wary that in the sunlight colours will look lighter and we don't want to go from a big yellow house to a big white house! What do people think? And what colour for the pillars and garden walls? There is also a cottage behind the house with the same colour scheme which we will match but the priority is the main house. Any advice is very welcome! I promise to post pics on here when completed. Re: Exterior colours to go with Surfmist roof 2Aug 20, 2010 11:22 am Can the balastrades be painted? The blue seems almost out of place. With the Woodland Grey and it's slight green tinge, I'd run with that, something light but with a hint of grey/green, might need to be a shade or two darker than Dune though. What about Dulux Linseed? I reckon that would look beatiful with the Surfmist and Woodland Grey and still be really sympathetic to the surroundings. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Exterior colours to go with Surfmist roof 3Aug 20, 2010 12:00 pm Unfortunately what you cannot see is the other 2 sides of the house where there are 30m+ of railings! Hence painitng them isn't really an option so we are stuck with the roof, guttering and railings colours. The external tiled areas are terracotta to match the pillars and garden walls, I really don't know where the blue came from for the railings. Looking at it again it might be the Dulux 'Prelude Blue' powdercoat? Do you think Dune will be too light? I am having trouble convincing OH that it is light enough! Dulux linseed is nice as well. Re: Exterior colours to go with Surfmist roof 4Aug 20, 2010 12:04 pm I think Dune will be really light, but whether it's too light is another question. I think the general rule is that it will show up one or two shades lighter as render due to being outdoors. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Exterior colours to go with Surfmist roof 5Aug 20, 2010 7:25 pm I’d look at C/B Windspray for the exterior that way all the colours will balance with each other. Windspray also takes on a very slight green tint to it when done in large amounts; this is good, as it will blend with your surrounding environment Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Exterior colours to go with Surfmist roof 6Aug 20, 2010 11:14 pm We're doing surfmist garage, woodlandgrey roof & render feature - our main render will be bushland (colorbond colour) - just another suggestion - quite dark in sample card but with sun on it would prob be quite light http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq27/LeanneRowe/IMG_6376.jpg Re: Exterior colours to go with Surfmist roof 7Aug 23, 2010 11:37 am CB Windspray and Bushland both very nice colours. I would say Bushland has more green in it, Windspray might blend better with the blue railings. Michelle, what colour would you choose for the feature render? Woodland Grey so that it is the same as the guttering? Re: Exterior colours to go with Surfmist roof 8Aug 23, 2010 12:03 pm Yeah bushland does have green tinge to it... sorry i missed the blue railing part Thank you so much.
