Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jul 23, 2010 8:37 pm Hi guys/gals; coming to the end of our build, and we need to choose a carpet! Most of our colours are grey neutrals, and hoping to choose a grey for carpets upstairs and in the bedrooms. I really like the darker grey carpets like this but my partner is worried the dark grey is too dark, and the minor bedrooms are small-ish as it is. If anyone's got grey carpets or flooring, and you post a pic of what you have and provide some details? We have some carpet samples but it's so hard to imagine a whole lot all laid out! Gotta get cracking on this selection, as our SS said he can let us lay the carpet before handover, which is hopefully September! We have a darker colour on our walls than you and we have a dark grey carpet. The rooms don't feel smaller than they are. With your light wall colour, the carpet won't affect the feel of the rooms size-wise I wouldn't think. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: What shade grey carpet to go with our bedrooms? 5Jul 25, 2010 10:51 am I have almost the same carpet as Judie. The Kimberly, Valley View range. I don't remember the name of ours though. Re: What shade grey carpet to go with our bedrooms? 7Jul 25, 2010 8:39 pm I just re-read my blog, I got the Cedar Park range from Kimberly, because my husband felt the Valley View range was to 'speckly' for him. Re: What shade grey carpet to go with our bedrooms? 8Jul 28, 2010 6:35 pm I like the darker greys; they look so much more classier. Just remember you are having really light wall colours, so your rooms can take the darker colour. As you have seen in the photos posted here. We're definitely going with dark grey, the only problem is that the carpets all look so different in different light. Sometimes they look grey, and other times they look really brown! Latest store we went to recommended the bridgestone rubber over dunlop foam. Will probably settle on a final colour this week (we hope) and after everything's installed will post more pics of the final product! I miss that job! I would never use a rubber over foam as a an underlay! Can't wait to see how it looks in real life! I originally wanted a plush carpet cause i just love how squishy they feel, but we ended up with one of those twist ones? (not sure of the correct terminology lol). Anyway we went a really dark grey in the end and it was laid on Friday and i absolutely love it. My rooms are really small as well, and because of our really light walls it definately hasnt made the rooms feel smaller, in fact i think it may have done the opposite! You must post pics when yours is installed!
