Second choice is the second chair, which will at least match the table as it is. I'm all for mixing and matching chairs and tables, but they have to complement each other, the table as it is and the chairs with the dark legs just won't go together. BTW, the lounge room is looking great. Re: WHICH DINING CHAIR ? 23Jul 25, 2010 6:49 pm If you can stain the table to match the dark chairs. Which ever way you go light or dark, the table should be the same colour as the chairs. You have a great talent in decorating as the rest of your house seems very elegant. Love it!! I agree re the chair legs & table matching ...........I was just 2nd guessing myself as usual, knowing that the 2 colours wouldn't really match Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: WHICH DINING CHAIR ? 25Jul 25, 2010 6:57 pm builtourown You have a great talent in decorating as the rest of your house seems very elegant. If you get a darker table later it will be easy to stain the lighter chair legs dark to match. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: WHICH DINING CHAIR ? 29Jul 26, 2010 9:32 pm Well..........this is how it goes : 10 dining chairs "Approximately 4 chairs are in good condition, and 6 will need cleaning, or recovering. However all of the chairs are structurally perfect" Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ After I win them for $122 (OK so I didn't break the bank) , he messages to say that sorry but he put them out to air and 1 was stolen . You've gotta be kidding I was not happy, to say the least . Give me the whole bleedin' set!!! Having watched & waited a year, for this many chairs , I suggested he give them to me fro $100. No deal - he can't possibly part with them for that amount. I counter offer figuring he'd say no with an offer for him to decuct 10%, as 1/10th of the set is missing. This works Oh brother, he made an extra $10 So DH brings them home & ........... NOT ONE BLOODY CHAIR is in good condition. All 9 need to be re-covered - cleaning???? yeah right. Almost every chair has a major stain & 1 has a hole. Added to that is that the legs are pine . I specifically asked him if they were pine & he said he thought they were birch !! Finally, are they structurally perfect ??? What planet does this guy live on ? almost every chair wobbles. And all this AFTER he asked me not to leave negative feedback becuase of the stolen chair. Well fat chance now . He's definitley getting negative feedback! I am livid. I refrained from leaving immediate feedback because I didn't want to be emotional. But i'm not feeling any calmer It's not the money! What's $110?. It's the fact that this guy wasn't totally truthful & that I wasn't there at the pick-up to see the condition of the chairs & tell him to take a flying leap!!! When you buy second hand stuff, you don't expect it to be perfect, but you do expect any defects to be mentioned upfront, and an honest description of the condition. I'd be livid too! They don't look as though they'd be too hard to recover though. I know fabric is still extra expense, but at least it's an option. Or...did you pay via Paypal? Because you might be able to get your money back if you lodge a complaint with eBay. Re: WHICH DINING CHAIR ? 32Jul 27, 2010 6:01 am Oh no southies, that's terrible! Not to mention dishonest I did wonder why it was only 9 chairs you bought. Hold off on leaving feedback and email the seller with your observations, see what he will do (probably nothing ) I agree with kek, lodge the dispute with ebay. Re: WHICH DINING CHAIR ? 33Jul 27, 2010 6:59 am I had intended to get them profesionally cleaned 1st so I could use them until I was ready to have them re-covered - in a year or 2 or 3 .......and complaining to ebay ? For $100, it's not worth it. Besides, I'd be surprised if I got a response from ebay based on past dealings (or rather non-dealings)with their ineffective customer service dept. EDIT : just wanted to add that I love the shape of the chairs. THe upholstery was done well - stitching, piping detail around the chair backs . So once I get them re-done & I sand the legs( ) I will be happy. That's disgusting and infuriating and make sure it's really bad feedback and can you tell us where we can read it I think I would have been suss when he had one go missing Re: WHICH DINING CHAIR ? 35Jul 27, 2010 8:51 am You know suh .... when he told me about the theft, I was suspicious too. I thought : I bet that chair was in a pretty bad state. And it was a pick-up from his apartment block. But I didn't go because DS had his tennis lesson. I left it up to DH. My mistake - I should have gone with him & told the guy to get stuffed Sure, I'll give you the link to the feedback I leave . He still hasn't left ME feedback & am thinking that maybe I shouldn't leave mine until I get mine Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: WHICH DINING CHAIR ? 37Jul 27, 2010 11:07 am that sucks southies. my first thought was, I bet there was ever only 9 that he was selling... I do like the shape of them too though. Maybe it'll be a good incentive for you to get the re-upholstering and sanding done a bit quicker?
