Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jul 19, 2010 9:30 pm When I bought my house just over a year ago, I down sized to fit just me…..love it that way. Down sized on the gardens, on the land and on the house. My intention was to test myself with my knowledge of what I know about keeping a house cool in summer and warm in winter. Insulation of a home. Since summer I have been wondering what I would do for my first full winter in the house. When I moved in I just used my heater I had in my rather LARGE office at my other house. In summer I put in an over sized aricon unit for this house as I hate the heat and wanted ice effects in summer. It seems I have managed to pull of what I set out to achieve in my little house, I don’t need the ugly gas heater I was putting off buying…..being a decorator has its down falls, everything needs to look the part. My over sized aircon only needs to be on an hour of a morning and an hour at night to take the chill off the house. Plus I have put appropriate window dressings at all windows to keep cool/heat in and heat/cold out. Point here is……take time to consider your needs, and look at the outcome of what you are trying to achieve.
