Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jun 27, 2010 6:41 pm Hi everyone, I'm getting close to actually getting into my house (I think). I have my PCI tomorrow so will hopefully know more then. I finally paid off some furniture today and I'm now thinking what colour blinds and curtains should I go with. This is the room I'm thinking of basing my curtain colours off. Behind where I have taken the photo is 2 sliding doors that I will probably get panel glides for. Then further around next to the sliding door (once again behind where I took this photo from) is the kitchen window. In the kitchen will be a pale blue glass splashback. Any suggestions are more than welcome...I really struggle visualising colours. I will more than likely buy cheapish curtains first or make them myself...and then get one blind every payday until they are all done. This is the rumpus room where I will spend most of my time. These are the chairs that I have bought, however the lounge is a chocolate one not the cream. I also haven't purchased that ottoman, but thought I might get one around the same design. http://i440.photobucket.com/albums/qq129/EljayC/The%20Build/Rumpusroom.jpg And this one is looking back behind the first one, into the kitchen area http://i440.photobucket.com/albums/qq129/EljayC/The%20Build/IMG_2659.jpg And this one is looking back towards the rumpus room and kitchen with the sliding doors visable Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ (edit).... just wanted to say that I'm not scared of colour...if my portico is anything to go by lol My theme for the house is African Thanks everyone Re: What colour curtains & blinds? Suggestions needed 2Jun 27, 2010 7:31 pm Designed Blinds have a "woven" effect series of fabric which would look great in a chocolate/mocha type colour IMO. It's suitable for panel glides, romans etc.....and would have an ëarthy"feel to go with your African theme. Michelle? Suggestions needed 3Jun 27, 2010 7:38 pm IkonInteriors Hey Frogger, Love the stripe-fabric armchair! As for the blinds, I'd be tempted to go with plain or off-white (depending how white-white your trim colour is), and add some colour by layering some curtains over the top... as for the curtain colour, you could tie it in with either your floor colour or accent colour in the arm chair. Looking great so far though! ^ Sorry I posted this on your other thread too. Re: What colour curtains & blinds? Hmmm yes I have seen those, some of them have a very faint purple undertone to the brown...very nice. Thanks Dee IkonInteriors IkonInteriors Hey Frogger, Love the stripe-fabric armchair! Do you normally put the lighest colour behind?? For example have the light colour on the blind and then a darker colour on the curtain (in front) Re: What colour curtains & blinds? Suggestions needed 5Jun 27, 2010 7:54 pm We are having Wattyl Purest White on our trims too! If you go blinds & curtains then keep the blinds light & the curtains in the colour IMO IKON-you were suggesting to pick up the blue from the chair in the curtains weren't you? And Froggie-that would also tie in with your vases...... Should look good! Ash. Re: What colour curtains & blinds? Arrhhh great minds think alike I'd love to pick up a blue out of the chair and have that on the curtains....but I'm a bit iffy about having a blue curtains and having white or off white blinds behind. Would that be to in ya face?? royalblue I'd keep the blinds fairly neutral to blend in with walls or carpets, and for curtains, look for something with that matches the coloured stripes in you chairs. Should look good! Ash. Hi Ash, thanks I'm going to look at some fabrics next week end. Then I just need to teach myself how to make curtains lol What about going a little bit darker than the walls for the blind and a still do a shade of blue for the curtain? Re: What colour curtains & blinds? Suggestions needed 9Jun 27, 2010 8:55 pm Depends on what type of blinds-roller blinds would be unobtrusive when they were up if they were the same colour as your architraves Deemaree Kyndylan Capers: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=46852 My blog: http://www.sufficientlysufficient.blogspot.com/ Re: What colour curtains & blinds? If you went to your local Warwick showroom, they will normally provide a small sample to take home. Ash. Re: What colour curtains & blinds? I have this huge urge to go fabric hunting now .... and I don't/can't sew lmao Re: What colour curtains & blinds? Suggestions needed 18Jun 28, 2010 9:29 pm I LOVE that!!!!!!!!!! hey I've just been on that warwick website for the last 20 minutes and I didn't see that one lol With a black blind behind it?? I think that would look lovely!!! Re: What colour curtains & blinds? Suggestions needed 19Jun 29, 2010 6:33 am I’ve chosen a black blind as it will give more depth to your solid curtain. Plus, I feel the darker the blind, the more it will block the heat and light. Glad you like black. Ash’s fabric colour is Teal, not blue. I’ll have a look for you when I get home from work tonight.
