Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jun 04, 2010 10:54 am Well after thinking that I am a decorator extraordinaire it has done a full circle and slapped me right in the face Some of you have 'seen' me pop up around the boards, but I bought a house and somewhat renovated. I stuck to the 'theme' of the house which was modern. I am so not a modern girl, but went with it as it is cheaper to do so. The paint I went with was Whispher White which has a grey based tinge. I thought that this would suit the black / white and possibly green theme that I had in mind. With that, I went and bought a modular lounge in Smooth White. Well it turns out that smooth white is actually cream - I could have died!! I took the ottoman back and placed it next to the display, and yes, exactly the same colour as I ordered. So where to from here? The lounge must be placed against the wall and it just doesn't look right. Will post some photos later tonight, but not sure where to from here. What would you suggest? Confused Renovator Re: Decorator Extraordinaire.....NOT! 2Jun 04, 2010 2:02 pm Just a suggestion but could you do a feature wall on where the lounge is to go? Re: Decorator Extraordinaire.....NOT! 4Jun 04, 2010 3:23 pm Def a good suggestion and one I did think of but what type of feature wall - do I go greys or creams or neither? I will post a photo tonight - late tonight, as I have a dinner date. May take my mind off the damn lounge for a couple of hours. My mind is ticking over here probably a colour that makes it look more white than not charcoal maybe...and how cream is it, yellowish cream or just off white cream Re: Decorator Extraordinaire.....NOT! 6Jun 04, 2010 4:12 pm Need a visual Totally agree with the others about a feature wall. Love the idea of charcoal... like suh said... something that makes the lounge appear more white rather than cream. Maybe it needs to be a warm colour, rather than a charcoal then... Re: Decorator Extraordinaire.....NOT! 8Jun 04, 2010 6:29 pm With some matching cushions thrown on the lounge and maybe a vase in the same colour placed in close vicinity too. Looking forward to seeing the pics too Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, and professionals built the Titanic." Re: Decorator Extraordinaire.....NOT! 10Jun 05, 2010 1:47 am Maybe your feature wall could be in wallpaper with a large graghic , that has come back into fashion. You may take the edge off the suite colour. The paper could have cream, white with some charcoal or silver Re: Decorator Extraordinaire.....NOT! 11Jun 05, 2010 7:23 am I’d like a photo also….. I've "almost" bought things many times, but decided to come back with my colour swatches - and it usually turns out tha it's just as well. Re: Decorator Extraordinaire.....NOT! 14Jun 07, 2010 10:34 am Thanks girls!! I have considered wallpaper and I think that this may be the way to go. I actually spotted a wallpaper in a magazine and wrote the name, contacted the company but did not receive a reply. My house is fairly small and the glass splashback in the kitchen is a greeny sort of colour. This wallpaper was sort of green with cream and black leaves throughout. Will try track it down again and post. Unfortunately I did not take a photo....I know naughty naughty. I will tonight though Confused Renovator Re: Decorator Extraordinaire.....NOT! 16Jun 07, 2010 10:24 pm Ohhh, you are too hard on yourself! And the problem is? Looks great to me! You just need a rug, that’s all.
