Tbh, I was extremely disappointed as you picture a certain look and when that just doesn't work you become a little disheartened. I suppose a photo a little closer would have probably shown the difference in colour tones a little better but the walls are a greyish tone (Dulux Whisper White) and the lounge is a cream tone. Had I taken the photo during the day, I think it would given you a better picture. A rug is definitely the way to go. I was thinking black but with a little one running around maybe I should go for a different colour. Not sure. What colour do you girls think? Erin - Yes Melbourne modular. I was the the OP who said that my lounge was coming from Greenland as it took 12 weeks to deliver. Can't wait to see your red one. Oh and they are so soft and comfortable too. Great choice. Confused Renovator Re: Decorator Extraordinaire.....NOT! 23Jun 08, 2010 10:40 am I can just see a great wallpaper behind that suite. I think you could have a red rug also! I agree with everyone and think a floor rug would make a difference and inject some colour in it. Not sure what colour, but red, green or torquoise would look great! Or possibly silver if you are keeping to the modern theme. I would also consider looking at a couple of cushions and possibly a throw rug in your chosen accent colour too. The throw could be placed at the back of the couch to break up the cream and white togther if you think it looks that bad! Maybe some modern art in your accent colour too on the wall? Make your own? A canvas covered in funky material that you could use as cushions as well?? Dunno...typing as I think... Actually, looking back at your photo, I would perhaps separate the 2 black cushions (put one where the arm of the couch is on the other side) and add 2 more in a colour next to them. Put a throw over the other return bit where you put your feet (not sure of it's technical term!), perhaps add a tray on the ottoman and put 'something' on it in your chosen accent colour. Don't go overboard if you want a nice modern streamlined look, though! All trial and error, and it's the fun part of decorating! Just make sure you are able to return cushions and throws for full refund if they are not quite 'right'! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Again not really my colour, but think it will work. There are some cushions in Freedom atm with torquoise and black so maybe that may go. Will see if I can find a picture. Edited to say, oops not torquoise but purple. Do you think this will go? Here is another colour: Michelle, Stormy, Erin and the rest of you....thank you!! We have got a couple of great rugs from Parklea Markets in Sydney. Good prices too. Everyone thinks they were hugely expensive, which makes me laugh, because they were far from it. Judie Re: Decorator Extraordinaire.....NOT! 34Jun 11, 2010 8:21 am Re: Decorator Extraordinaire.....NOT! 35Jun 11, 2010 1:16 pm Erin. I love that look and remember it from their brochure. I have lots of black throughout the house though so think the purple black scheme may work best. Judie - I am in Sydney so perhaps a visit to Parklea for their rugs (and corn) may be on the cards! I looked at green, but it would not go with the splashback in the kitchen and these rooms are right next to one another. By throwing purple into the mix, may not work again because of the splashback. Here is the kitchen: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Yes, still pondering. Confused Renovator Re: Decorator Extraordinaire.....NOT! 38Aug 02, 2010 12:57 pm Hmmmm. Do you have a picture of the whole room? Maybe looking from the kitchen to the living area? Without looking at it I would have one or two pillows or accesories which match the splashback. I wouldnt bring another colour in because it might get too busy. Am really into neutral colours that contrast, perfectionism . . matching colours are boring. To top it off, you could hang some pictures, with odd frames and hung irregularly like they do in Paris. Check outhouseswap and check out the interior of Parisian homes, you will see what I mean. Re: Decorator Extraordinaire.....NOT! 40Aug 04, 2010 5:22 pm How about a chocolate rug?
