Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jun 03, 2010 6:57 pm Sorry for those who have seen this in the kitchen thread but thought it was worth posting here also Our kitchen is pretty much all white with polytec gloss white v/wrap cupboards and our colour scheme throughout is pretty much grey and white. We have chosen dulux teahouse as the splashback colour but now I am thinking I need to add a bit of colour.... possibly a dep red??? Yes? No? Any advice?? (Ignore nougat benchtop in this pic) This floor tile is also available in a smaller version with lines in it so you can grout it to make look like little 10cmx30cm tiles- this is also another option to the glass splash Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Thanks guys and gals!! Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32574 Re: Help with Splashback colour please!! 4Jun 06, 2010 7:08 pm I like the colours as you have there, but dont know your plan, depending on the colours of your furniture it should be fine you can add reds into soft furnishings and prints on the wall with reds, silver, black and white tones. I was pretty much like you and agonised over my kitchen colours. I chose polytec vinyl gloss white on overhead cupboards and all drawers, seductive limba diamond gloss laminate finish to all cupboards and oven surround and fridge recess with essa stone pecan creme benchtop and mercury silver glass splashback. I really hope it all looks brilliant when finished as it is my dream kitchen. The only thing about picking a red colour as I wanted to go that way to make a wow statement originally, was people all said that it can end up dating in a few years and glass splashbacks are expensive. But all said and done it is what you like. Re: Help with Splashback colour please!! 5Jun 06, 2010 10:14 pm Hey shellb78, I would be hesitant putting Teahouse into the mix here with your grey & white scheme as it is very green in real life. I just don't think it's going to work with the Deep Anthracite on the back of your island bench... Western Myall is very near to Teahouse but more blue than green. http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr170/Ikon_Interiors/WesternMyall.jpg If you're looking to inject a bit a colour though, you don't need to pick something quite so bold as red. Stick with your scheme, and look for a soft/muted, grey/blue - a softer (lighter) tone will reflect more light and keep your Ice Snow CS looking fresh. I'm not sure if this colour, Endless Dusk (Dulux) is right - but it should give you an idea of what I mean... http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr170/Ikon_Interiors/EndlessDusk.jpg Remember your kitchen really is at the heart of your main living space (I looked at the plan over in your building thread), the colour you pick for your splash back doesn't just need to compliment your kitchen, but your entire living space (so I really would steer clear of the red unless you plan to use it as an accent colour throughout the space). Sorry hope this helps Re: Help with Splashback colour please!! 7Jun 07, 2010 8:28 am Thanks so much IkonInteriors, Your post makes a lot of sense. I do like the two colours you have posted, I can see now the green tinge in teahouse when comparing with Western Myall. I also really like the lighter shade of grey in Endless Dusk and think this could match in well with the tiles.... mmmmm, making me think I shouldn't have put in the deep anthricate now . Do you think I can go a lighter splash even with the deep anthricate? You also say your not sure about the Endless Dusk, can you suggest another colour. Judie- I do really like the look of a mirrored splash, are these more expensive than a normal glass splash? Cheers Michelle Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32574 Re: Help with Splashback colour please!! 9Jun 07, 2010 6:54 pm Hey Michelle, Do you think I can go a lighter splash even with the deep anthricate? Definitely! Will the Deep Anthracite be a matt or gloss finish? You also say your not sure about the Endless Dusk, can you suggest another colour. I simply love this with the Ice Snow CS... even though Ice Snow has no colour, it has those clear specks (which can look brown in photos) through it - these will pick up some of the colour from the splash back and look very lush. When I said I'm not sure, I just don't know what colour the floor tiles are (are they the ones pictured above in this post? if so then they work perfectly!). Here is Endless Dusk: http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr170/Ikon_Interiors/coloursformichelle1.jpg Here is Western Myall: http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr170/Ikon_Interiors/coloursformichelle2.jpg My vote goes to Endless Dusk Re: Help with Splashback colour please!! 10Jun 07, 2010 6:56 pm Judie What about a mirrored or silver splashback? Both would look great with your colours. Judie A nice smoky-grey mirrored splash... http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr170/Ikon_Interiors/drool.gif Re: Help with Splashback colour please!! 11Jun 08, 2010 8:04 am Thanks again I.I I think I like the Endless dusk better also, and it will go very nicely with our floor tile. The deep anthricate is a matt I think? Why do you ask? Another colour I am thinking would be Timeless grey (this was suggested for a render colour in another thread, as was endless dusk) but our render will end up Milton Moon or Shale Grey 200% I think. Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32574 Re: Help with Splashback colour please!! 13Jun 08, 2010 2:08 pm You could also go a metallic silver? That is what we ended up going with, and on Starfire glass. I dont have any updated photos with the splash but could probably get some tonight if you want? I think it would look lovely with your colours. (similar to endless dusk too I guess but metallic!) Re: Help with Splashback colour please!! 14Jun 08, 2010 2:22 pm I was just getting a photo from photobucket and realised I do have photos of the splash, but just no rangehood in them! http://i910.photobucket.com/albums/ac304/ms_builder/P5180334.jpg http://i910.photobucket.com/albums/ac304/ms_builder/P5180332.jpg Hope this helps! Re: Help with Splashback colour please!! 15Jun 08, 2010 6:39 pm The deep anthricate is a matt I think? Why do you ask? That's good - I think matt finish on this will work better than gloss Re: Help with Splashback colour please!! Update 16Jul 01, 2010 2:34 pm Met with the splashback guy today and we have narrowed it down to either Endless Dusk Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Or Timeless Grey Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Don't ask me why I threw another colour into the mix Don't know how or when that happened (Wouldn't have anything to do with too much of reading H1 ) P.S Ms Builder- would love to see more pics of the metallic grey if you have more. Oh- and did I mention my benchtop has changed to Ice Snow Just a bit whiter than Ice Snow with finer specks and small sparkles through it! Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32574 Re: Help with Splashback colour please!! 17Jul 01, 2010 3:36 pm I will get some more tonight if I remember!! I havent taken any other photos since that day :O I really wanted to get some of the bare house before we moved in but DP was in too much of a rush! Re: Help with Splashback colour please!! 19Jul 02, 2010 9:39 am suh i would do Endless Dusk as the metallic silver, although beautiful, is also quite light and wont have the same oomph. I'm not sure what you mean Suh Did you mean to say or metallic silver? What is quite light and doesn't have the oomph?? Sorr!!! Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32574 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls.
