Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 May 29, 2010 8:37 pm Hi Michelle (and anyone else with an opinion ) I'm still trying to decide on a few things for our place and need a bit of advice. I'll start with the easier questions first. We need to decide on a colour for the rear walls of our house. Now most of these walls are underground so only a metre or so is visible. We are thinking of just using half or quarter strength Dune as we want the Rusted iron to be the feature and don't really want to introduce anymore colours. Does anyone have any pictures of half or quarter strenght Dune??? Internal colours Originally we were wanting a charcoal, white and turquoise colour scheme inside...but I just can't find the right shade of turquiose, so for the 2 inclined feature walls below I'm thinking of this... Dulux slippery moss (this looks nothing like the real colour on my screen. I love everything already and that Porter's Liquid rust is something I have had my mind on for many months. I plan on doing alot of stuff with that for the gardens. I also want my side gates to be liquid rust-just not sure how the gates will be constructed. I cannot wait to see more progress of your home. It's truly amazing inside and out. Re: Colour help...pleeeease! 3May 29, 2010 9:32 pm Thanks Dollar. We (or should I say I...and then I had to convince DH) originally wanted to use the Axolotl metal cladding (so real rusted iron), but the designer assured us it would be out of our budget...so this is the next best thing. I'm just hoping that the painter gets it looking right. I've seen a house with 'rusted iron' side gates and I love them. But I'm not sure what they're made of. I drive past the house occasionally when I need to reassure myself that the colour will look OK, and everytime I see it I think...'Yep...Love it' 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Re: Colour help...pleeeease! 4May 29, 2010 9:41 pm ohh if it isn't tooo much trouble could you post a photo of the gates when ever you get the chance. There is a house near us that has used the same paint and it looks fabulous. I can look at it that stuff for ages, it's so mesmerising. Re: Colour help...pleeeease! 5May 29, 2010 10:08 pm I haven't actually got any photos of the gates...but I'll try to remember to take my camera next time I'm going past. The green piece I would be tempted to keep a light colour Re: Colour help...pleeeease! 7May 30, 2010 11:46 am Thanks kiwichick, Yes that's most probably a better idea...I was thinking lighter as we need a light colour to go on the internal garage walls and I thought we could use the same colour in both areas. But we could use a totally different colour in the garage I suppose. I need to meet with the builder and find out how easy it is to tint smaller amounts...the Rockcote sandcote usually comes in 15lt tubs. Thanks again. I have found some gates online-an idea that would probably suit perfectly for our house and I did find an idea that could work also using timber and the rust iron. It's a matter of trying to find someone that knows what style fence/gate you want....and then there's the cost. They won't be directly next to each other, but in the same room separated by the charcoal laminex. I've got a meeting with the designer tomorrow to run our ideas past him and hopefully finalise these colours once and for all 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Re: Colour help...pleeeease! 14Jun 02, 2010 6:51 pm Yes ‘chelle, the green splash back glass in my opinion goes with any colour!
