Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Oct 08, 2007 2:48 pm Hi all,
Need some suggestions!! We are having a feature tile in our bathrooms, a gorgeous chocolate polished marble (emperador marble). It's in brickbond pattern, and when we selected it we got two colums of it (so not heaps, but too beautiful to waste!) from the sheet from the tile place (hope that makes sense!). I consider myself to be crafty enough to make use of it, what I was wondering is now that I have it, can you think of anything I can do with it!? I was thinking of maybe tiling it onto a dish or something and putting a candle or something on it for the vanity - just an idea. Anyone have any ideas? Here is a pic of it - not the best pic but will get the idea. It's the top sheet - the polished one. They come as a sheet!
One of them I put on a backing bard the same size, then grouted the pebbles and used it as a centre piece for my outdoor table with a candle on it. Looks good. Also you could use it as a wall hanger…..in the bathroom on a wall of its own, making it a complementary feature to the feature tiles. Again you will need to mount it on a board then grout, and attache a hanging device. Might think of more later….good question! By the way they also make excellent heat pad protectors, for hot pans and table dishes. I know you can get MDF?(some sort of particulate stuff) cutouts from spotlight/lincraft/bunnings etc of mirrors, picture frames, etc. You could have a go of mosaic-ing the MDF and hang it somewhere. Hmmm, [she thinks about it] I wonder if I could go around to all the tile suppliers and get a sample off each of them? They probably wouldn't let me... just a thought. Ray.
