I have started to make my own roman blinds for our new house. I'm making them myself to save at least $5000. Now, with the pully system, I dont want to have to wind it and unwind it from a bracket everytime I want to out them up or down. I have heard that you can get cord locks for them like the custom made blinds but for the life of me, I can find anywhere that sells them other than one place overseas for $10ea. Might not sound much but I've got at least 35 blinds.lol. Any help appreciated. Forrester 43sq We have our keys (3/6/11) Now it's time to decorate (that's the fun part.lol) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37598 Re: Ask your “Curtain Questions Here” 207Nov 19, 2010 3:47 pm Xander: issue with a track around a tight corner is that the runners will have difficulty moving around the corner part especially as it would be an inside corner. I would be interested in seeing the ones you have seen in the States, as at this point I think the best solution would be either to have two rods butt up against each other or choose another type of treatment for the side window Rudolf: The suppliers I have for these type of items are to the trade only Re: Ask your “Curtain Questions Here” 208Dec 22, 2010 9:50 am Has anyone come across 2.7m long ready made curtains? Re: Ask your “Curtain Questions Here” 211Jan 13, 2011 11:27 pm Hi Everyone, I've just read this whole thread in search of an answer to my quesiton. Window treatments are so difficult aren't they!! Basically, we have a sliding door which opens out to a balcony. So obviously we will need something on there that can be easily opened and closed etc. Most of the rest of the house will have the double roller blinds in white (1 blind sunscreen and 1 blind block out). But with this sliding door I'm not sure I will be able to have the double roller because of that silly bar on the sliding door that protrudes outward. So, is it acceptable to have different window treatments on windows at the front of the house? EG, rollers on 1 window and curtains on another in a different room but both at front of the house? Also, if we go for sheers and block out curtains on the sliding door, do we have the curtains and sheers opening to each side or 1 side? Has anyone had any experience with double roller blinds? Thanks Everyone Re: Ask your “Curtain Questions Here” 212Jan 14, 2011 7:10 am bec1981 Hi Everyone, I've just read this whole thread in search of an answer to my quesiton. Thanks Everyone Bec, the vertical bar?? I think your referring to on the sliding door is easily cut off at the top (approx. 50mm) allowing the roller blind to sit inside the architrave. Blind is front rolling and works perfectly. I didn't know you could cut it off. Could hubby do this or do we need a professional? Also, once its cut off won't it then look unfinished? As in, the windows have a finish to them so if we cut that part off, won't that coloured finish be gone? If so, is it noticeable? Hubby can certainly do this - last time our installer had to shave a little more off as it was a long blind, hence a little thicker. Your blind manufacturer can guide you on how much to cut off and remember blind must be front rolling. No it doesn't look unfinished (or harm the structure) as the blind sits above the cut metal. This treatment gives the roller blind a neat finish to the architrave and sliding door. Good Luck. I want to put sheers on the inside of the window so I'm looking for a track which wraps along the inside of the window (ie needs to go around the corners) if that makes sense. I'm hoping that I can make at least the sheers myself to save some $ but wondering where can I buy the tracks from. I live in Brisbane. TIA Susan Re: Ask your “Curtain Questions Here” 216Jan 22, 2011 8:01 am OK I've also read through the thread and get the point about dealing with all the fabric when sewing and keeping curtains professional looking. We had the other curtains in our house professionally made and we just need to do the bedroom but I'd like to go with a different company. So is there anywhere I can see other companies in Brisbane and people would recommend for curtaining. TIA Susan How wide should a curtain track be? 217Jan 23, 2012 10:20 am I can't seen to find any information or guidelines on this one so I'm asking here if anyone knows the answer to this question. We have two curtains in the family room - the track for the curtain on the sliding door extends about 750mm past the window and the curtains (inverted pleats on an Evo track) look great when drawn back as the whole sliding door can be seen, the track for the window on the other hand only has about 200mm on each side and it looks too small - we are not sure how wide we should go - if we go 750mm each side of the window the curtain will cover most of the wall which may or may not be a bad thing. Does anyone know how much room should be allowed for curtains to be pulled back properly? We've asked the curtain lady to come and see us again so we can work it out as we are not happy with how it is now ... but I wanted to know if there were any guidelines before we meet with her..... Re: Ask your “Curtain Questions Here” 219Jan 23, 2012 12:22 pm Yes that's the problem - I haven't got a photo to show but the track just looks too "skimpy" when the curtains are open and the curtain lady thought we wanted to extend on the left side only to meet the other curtain but that would look dreadful ... I guess we just have to make our minds up as to how far the track should extend.
