bedroom furniture

hi cant find the right area on this forum to ask this question so im putting it here . just bought a nice queen size mattress and trying to find a good quality bed frame and bedside tables. what would people recommend?ideaS? in style i dont want to buy anything that will outdate good quality timber ,resonable price to pay color ,stain and bedding shop to purchase it. i looked every where on the weekend ,mayb im fussy but some beds looked cheap as in dented timber and others were very expensive which the later i reckon would be good quality.i luv white .(would white be too girlish)and mahogony (proberly didnt spell that right.) my interior bedroom color scheme will be chalk beige for walls tribal mask for feature wall and chalk dust for trims.im buiding thru PD so the house will be modern interior prob wont matter. michelle you might know more on this subject than i do. living in melbourne south east.

I love white in bedrooms but I couldn't convince the other half that this was a good idea......this white suite is a lovely classic style

and sleigh beds never go out of fashion

I tend look in Forty Winks also…..

They seem to have a variety of styles and prices.
As far as having a white suite goes….that’s totally up to you and what you like.

There are so many to choose from, it can’t be easy! Good luck.

Keep looking, everywhere you can, cause the minute you find and buy one you will see the ONE you really want……isn’t it always the way!!!!

thanks michelle and rellie. yes i have looked in forty winks didnt see that white suite but its very lovely. actually .. not too girlie because of the wood surrounds. i think i will actually go to forty winks and see wether its in stock. on the week end i was in snooze and saw a white bedroom suite which caught my eye and have now decided to purchase it . im thinking that reds, purples, or black bed linen may go well with the white.

I am too looking for a bedroom suite, I have found one from Bedshed but not too keen on the price tag, I would also like to know if there are any known Factory outlet style places for Bedroom Suites. Direct from the wholesaler or manufacturer style sales in Melbourne?

There is one at Harvey Norman called the 'Arcadia' It's a white painted timber.

I think the one above with the timber colour surrounds is by a supllier called 'Elle furniture'. Harvey's & Forty's should be able to show you pictures in the range.

I’ve actually seen the white bedroom suit in 3 places here in Nowra.
So it must be fairly easy to get.

I actually found my white bed room suite at Snooze back when i created this post in 2007... wow how time travels :shock:

I will have to post some pics.

Just a word of caution with timber beds... if your room is not that spacious, or you're a bit clumsy (or drink a lot), then consider getting one with bedhead only, no foot. Those sticky-up bits on the end are murder on your poor thighs or hips when you lurch into them in the dark. :shock:

I have the bruises to prove it. Constantly over the past 15 years or so....

I have a colonial type timber bedhead & bedend plus a matching blanket box. I have a queen ensemble mattress & we had to do an adjustment because the ensemble was too high on the wooden slats (gave no thought to this when buying :oops:

) so we put the legs of the bed back on, took the slats out & adjusted the frame so the ensemble sat inside it. Then it became really hard to make because it seemed to be too tight against the bed end or something :roll:

it's painful to make so when we move back when our rebuild is finished, I may get the end cut off :shock:

or just buy a nice bedhead.

make sure you get a good idea how remaking the bed with a bedend will go before you make a purchase

Good point Jazzie.... tucking the sheets in has given me grazed knuckles on many occasions too.

I'm going for a mattress and base with a bedhead when I replace ours.

If anyone wants a nice Federation style queen bed, I'm looking to get rid of one.

I hear you Kek but : my room is spacious!!!! so i shouldn't be hitting my thighs against the end posts ::cry::

and that's in the light :lol:

ohhh it hurts and the bruises that appear after the damage is done

people think Ive been kicked. :n:

And adding to that.... mattresses are soooo heavy these days :shock:

sometimes when im too tired i find i have to tuck the blankets and sheets down in to the side of the bed frame as i cant lift the Mattress as the sides of the bed frame get in the way. :roll:

Think i will have to develop some muscles :roll:

This is what I made sure I didn't have this time....a bed where the mattress sits inside the frame ::frown::

had it last time and I physically could not get my hand between the mattress and the frame, it drove me insane ::dizzy::
