Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge Re: Which Curtain Header Style 23May 02, 2010 12:15 pm yeah, you can thread the sheers directly onto the rod, through the hem. That's what we will be doing with our sheers. Only the blockout outer ones will be on rings or whatever system we use for them. Hang in there, once you've made the decision you'll feel so much better. Decision anxiety is not pretty

Yep, that's clear now .....finally Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Which Curtain Header Style 29May 02, 2010 12:31 pm OK guys , I need to clarify 1 thing. I need to be able to open & close the sheers, so that's why I can't have gathered curtains threaded directly onto the rod. Yes, I know they can be sewn loosely but that's not good enough for me. I wouldn't be happy with that in the long run That brings me to my next decision : pencil pleats or gathers attached to the rings. After this long winded post, I think I'll go with pencil pleats. They're tidier Next I need to decide exactly where to attach the rods - on the architraves or walls ? Thankyou ladies for your input - it's much appreciated on this sunny Sunday morning. Now go outside & enjoy the day. Architraves if you can, I’ve seen brackets hanging from the plaster because they weren’t put on properly. I need a nana nap, bad night sleep! The lounge is calling. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Which Curtain Header Style 31May 02, 2010 1:09 pm You can have gathered curtains on rings - you just use gathered header tape and insert hooks at intervals. You don't see the hooks at all, as they sit level with or a smidge below the top of the curtain. We used to have some (awful curtains though, bleurgh! Not showing you.... ) Re: Which Curtain Header Style 33May 02, 2010 2:42 pm No probs there Mish DH is an excellent handyman & I will make sure that he uses the strongest possible toggled screws, if I decide on wall installation. Re: Which Curtain Header Style 36May 02, 2010 5:39 pm I call the ones slipped over the rod a slotted heading, like the first picture in your post above. When I referred earlier to gathered it was using a gathering tape. The next one has a slouched heading, but I have seen much better ones that are very elegant - although not suitable for your desire to open & close the sheers. Your 4th pic, do not like at all. The treatment is hung way too low for the window. (and not the normal triple pleat either) As for attaching the rods to the wall, much larger rods are fixed to walls with considerably heavy treatments all the time with no problems. You are putting a small width sheer, that is not going to be too demanding of the rod or the wall as long as the correct fittings are used. Re: Which Curtain Header Style 37May 02, 2010 6:44 pm OK girls one last question, if you've still got a little more patience Do you like the look of the rod on the wall ie higher than the architrave like this one : Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ or on the architrave : Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Which Curtain Header Style 39May 02, 2010 7:17 pm Same answer as ^!
