Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 30, 2010 5:06 pm Hi Our bricks are Capitol red and the gutters etc will be woodland grey. we love the hardwood doors but too exxy and because we are having wooden floors we don't want a wood look door. So we have decided to get a 920 front door with 4 glass panels and paint it- but what colour, are there rules? any photos, tips or suggestions would be great. thanks Re: What colour should front door be?? 4Apr 30, 2010 10:11 pm What colour is the garage door? I like everything to tie in so I would either match the garage door or the roof/gutters. Having said that there are some fantastic houses around with beautiful feature doors in bright red or other unique colours.... She's backkkkk... Re: What colour should front door be?? 6May 01, 2010 7:35 am To me this depends on the door’s position and the front entry area to the door. Can you post an elevation or a photo if the house is semi built? Will there be any other features on the facade such as stackstone or render? I have black front doors and I love them! They will eventually match the black exterior lights, the black letter box and metal inserts on the front brick fence. My garage/gutters/fascias/downpipes are all paperbark with grey tiles and reddish/brown bricks. Fairly traditional facade. Not sure if black would be the colour you are looking for, but maybe a reddish/maroon?? That looks great with woodland grey, but it may clash with your bricks! I'm with Sharee and like things to tie in, but a sea green/turquoise colour could look great too if you want to make it a feature! Have you a picture of your bricks? Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... It was the suggestion of our colour consultant and I am a little concerned (although excited) to see how it turns out. Our bricks are Austral Brampton (neutral light brown/tan colour) and our windows, garage, roof etc are colourbond surfmist. We also have a feature brick portico which is Austral Iron(dark chocolate brown). Our door colour is Taubmans November Leaf which is a drak purple colour. I was worried about having a white door (to match roof etc) because I thought it might look a bit bland. The consultant agreed and recommended the purple. I say ask your colour consultant at your appointment. It is their job to help you with these decisions after all. Good luck! Bon I was going to have very dark purple too, but then decided to have stained timber. Yours will look great I'm sure If the timber wasn't so reasonable price wise I would have been happy to have a painted door. I also love the idea of black gloss, or even very dark brown? (although you don't want to have the old 'mission brown' look) Or a rich red like red wine colour mmmmm ~*~Moved in on the 16th April 2011~*~ Re: What colour should front door be?? 10May 04, 2010 10:55 pm Thanks Zoe's Mama - I am crossing my fingers. I have seen someone's thread on here where they had a bright red door and it looked awesome! Black gloss looks great too. Having a stained timber door didn't occur to me at the time of colour selections although if I have my time over that is what I would choose.
