To keep my mind off the fact we are still waiting for a site start... I am concentrating on my interior decorating (to keep me excited and not frustrated).
The theme I have in mind for our house is "Vintage/Modern chic".
Here's a copy of our plans just so you get the idea of where everything is going. The living room is actually where it says DINING, the dining will be in front of the bi-fold doors, and the library will be where the word LIVING is on the plans.

Our kitchen will most likely be completely white, but with a metallic silver glass splashback. We have dark furniture, so most accessories will be silver and white, with the odd splash of colour.
So i'm thinking filigree or damasque wallpaper feature wall in the hall, the odd chandelier, and for my library I NEED to get 2 armchairs (think Louis XV).... ideally I am looking for oldies that I can do up myself, i want to sand back the wood, paint white with the silver/brass worn in look. With a damasque fabric.
Here are a few things I have in mind - this is just brainstorming from my collection of "online photos of scrapping for our house".
** i have removed these photos as i just realised they MIGHT be breaking forum rules... they're just images of furniture etc i got from various google image search results... can you let me know if i'm allowed to use them and if so i will re-post them.... thanks**
So my questions are:
To save money I am thinking of doing the wallpaper myself, as i've heard it can cost into the thousands $$ to get someone in to do it. Should I not take the risk? Or should I give it a go?
The house is completely open plan - do you think having ONE chandelier in the library area (just off the kitchen) would look stupid in light of the fact that it is open to the rest of the house, which will not have the chandeliers (although I am thinking of putting a chandelier lamp in the living area to team it up)?
Would modern pendant lights over the island in the kitchen look stupid because I have the chandeliers?
and lastly, if I am having filigree patterned wallpaper in the hall as a feature, should I leave it at that? Or can I do another wall in the library section - i don't want wallpaper overload..... plus i am planning on putting wallpaper of some sort behind our bed in the bedroom too.
Thanks in advance.
