Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 22, 2010 8:59 pm Hi all, We just bought our first house. Yippee! I have been busy choosing paint colours. I'm stuck on the living room. The living room is a rectangular shape, 3.5 x 6.0. Having lived in rental accomodation I'm keen to use colour, and I'd love a green room, but I'm worried that my preferred green might be a little dark. Light in the room comes from one window and a skylight. I really like Dulux "Pale Spring" A236, but I'm afraid that it might be a little dull. I'm considering going with the Pale Spring for a feature wall, and a lighter green for the others, but are a bit stuck. Any suggestions? Here are some pictures from the real estate website (NOTE: not our furniture. My sofas are dark brown and we have a lot of 60s teak furniture parker/eames style) Also, would probably move the feature wall to be the end wall with the doorway through to kitchen. http://images.domain.com.au/img/2010331/6907/3de1ea13-48c1-4237-a211-4e1ebc869544_FS.JPG?mod=100422-2037 http://images.domain.com.au/img/2010331/6907/a59874d3-3f17-4802-b7d4-8377550ca5dd_FS.JPG?mod=100422-2047 (Note: planning on keeping the trims white) Thanks for your help! Sarah Re: Searching for the best dulux green for an urban living r 2Apr 22, 2010 11:48 pm Congrats on the purchase. I cant help with colours but agree the other wall will be better for a feature wall. The two walls being the same colour will work better. I must say that i found the placement of those sofas in the pic odd. Re: Searching for the best dulux green for an urban living r 3Apr 23, 2010 1:01 am I agree with changing the feature wall. Other colours you could look at are Frisky and Celery Green. They have a little more yellow in them which would suit your furniture style. I must say that i found the placement of those sofas in the pic odd. I couldn't agree more! Very strange. We're planning on having our two-seater sofas face each other. Thanks to gugs for linking to a post with some green inspiration. I particularly love http://www.flickr.com/photos/14941046@N06/4486205814/ What would be the nearest Dulux colour? Also, there's a lot of natural light in the room in this picture. I'm wondering (as with the Pale Spring) if it would be too dark for our living room. Has anyone used Bryophyte A272 before? It looks much darker and bluer on the website than it does on the chip I got from the paint shop. I like its retro feel. In the Dulux shade atlas, the paler version is called Marsh Fog, which I don't know anything about. It looks really blue, but maybe it's the website. (Sorry - I tried to link to and upload the images and just had 15 minutes of frustration - the dulux site is bad for linking to swatches. GRRRR) Sarah Re: Searching for the best dulux green for an urban living r 8Apr 23, 2010 2:30 pm Michelle - thanks so much for posting the picture of the wall with Dulux Nicks Nook. Interestingly we have a very similar rug - with flecks of a similar bluey green colour. I was worried about mixing other greens with this colour, but it looks great! My only concern is that our living room is quite small and with a lot of diffuse light, and could be quite easily dominated by such a bold colour. Perhaps I'm being too cautious? Sarah Re: Searching for the best dulux green for an urban living r 9Apr 23, 2010 3:30 pm Sahara, I have since bought a new rug for that room.
