Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 22, 2010 1:23 pm Hi all. I am looking for some advice on Garage doors. I am deciding on whether to go for steel sectional garage doors vs real timber. If I go steel sectional, there is an option to use "Timbertone" which gives a timber look to your garage door and comes in Jarrah, Cedar, Maple and Merbau. My only concern with using the Timbertone technology is that I really do not know how it will come out and infact if it will look obviously fake or tacky. Their website will tell you that the finished product looks great and very much like real timber but what would be really good is to see it on display on a garage. I live in Sydney and it has been hard to get anyone to tell me where I may be able to see a completed timbertone effect garage door. Does anyone in this forum happen to know where I may be able to see an example of this live in Sydney. I am interested in either the Jarrah or Cedar colour. Any help on this matter would be appreciated. Thanks Re: "Timbertone effect" Steel Sectional Garage Doors 2Apr 22, 2010 1:37 pm Ring your local supplier- they may be able to give you some addresses to go and look at. We used a Decrowood timber look door and I know the company has referred at least two people to our address to have a look - pity they didn't realise we were on almost an acre and you can't see the garages from the road LOL. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: "Timbertone effect" Steel Sectional Garage Doors 3Apr 22, 2010 3:02 pm Hi, we have a steel timber look garage door. We went with a company called Gryphon and when I contacted them they posted out sample pieces of their timber look steel and provided me with addresses in my area that had their doors and what colours they were. It really helped us make our final decision. Here is a photo of the door we went with. It's teak colour. On the other hand, a person down the road from my rental has what appears to be a wood sectional door because the bottom has faded and there is swelling at the ends. Not a good look. Re: "Timbertone effect" Steel Sectional Garage Doors 6Apr 24, 2010 10:38 pm Thanks all for your responses Kyton - I tried to call both my garage door manufacturer (Dominator in NZ) and the people in NZ but neither can tell me where in Sydney these doors may be installed so I can actually see it. Very frustrating. Jaelee - Nice finish to your door. That is the kind of look I am after. I will check out Gryphon as an alternative.
