Now, my dilemma is that I went back to Beaumonts the other day to look at the tiles we chose and I hated them - they were too yellowy and I was generally unimpressed. We've got three weeks to choose new tiles, then the builder will need to order them. 1. Could we go a mid to dark browny-grey tile, or will this make the rooms seem small? It's only a little house (see plan in my thread in my signature). 2. What other colour tiles would look ok? 3. We had chosen white gloss tiles to use as the splashback, but we can change this too if we want. What other colours do you think would work as a splashback? Unfortunately glass is not an option, so just an idea on tile colours please Sorry, I know everyone asks these questions Re: Please help me with ideas for tiles colours :D 2Apr 21, 2010 9:45 pm I really love your colours dilla Are you doing the same tile everywhere? You could have a mid to dark brown in the bathroom/ensuite seeing as you are having white cabinets in those rooms, but think it could be a bit heavy with your kitchen cabinets. I have a milk chocolate carpet and have done a mid to light grey tile. Re: Please help me with ideas for tiles colours :D 3Apr 21, 2010 10:01 pm Thanks Suh I'm really pleased with them, just hanging out to see them in real life Initially we did have the same tiles everywhere, but there was no real reason for that apart from the fact that we were pushed for time and the sales lady kept pushing us towards having the same colour throughout. I agree with the mid to dark brown tiles in the ensuite and bathroom, do you think you would use the same tiles for the floor, walls, shower and bath, or would you use a "feature" colour over the bath, or on a wall in the shower? One of the good things about the kitchen colours are that they throw brown and grey so will go well with either (hopefully). Do you happen to have a pic of your tiles next to your carpet so I can have a bit of an idea of how dark your floor tiles are? Re: Please help me with ideas for tiles colours :D 5Apr 21, 2010 10:21 pm Thanks very much for those pics I'm such an amateur when it comes to colours. I really like those grey tiles with the carpet too. When your bathroom meets the hallway did you change from the grey tile to the dark brown tile? Do the different colours look funny, or don't you notice it? Re: Please help me with ideas for tiles colours :D 6Apr 21, 2010 10:30 pm In the upstairs, where the grey tile is, we carried it through into the powder room....in the downstairs bathroom we changed from another greyish tile with some brownish swirls in it, to brown, I will take photos of that tomorrow to show you. Here is what I did in the ensuite Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and that photo a bit bigger Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Please help me with ideas for tiles colours :D 7Apr 21, 2010 10:36 pm Thanks suh, I'd love to see them. You don't need to go to too much trouble though, I don't want to bother you, you've been so helpful and I really appreciate it Re: Please help me with ideas for tiles colours :D 11Apr 21, 2010 11:05 pm thanks suh, I see how your tiles work. If the main tiles are greyish/brownish they will blend nicely with the darker brown tiles in the bathroom. Oh and BTW, the MIDDLE floor? How big is your house That's a lot of tiles to mop Re: Please help me with ideas for tiles colours :D 12Apr 22, 2010 6:39 am yes, probably too big for this time in our lives, but we had to do it for the slope of the block and the views there are 3 levels but it's not overly huge in area. The change in tile doesn't worry me, the hall stands out and all the rooms off it are in a brown carpet/tile of some sort. On the *cough* bottom level I have all brown tiles right through. I would say both styles you have pictured are steel. The lower chord of the first pic would be a massive lump if made using timber considering the size of the rafters.
