Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 17, 2010 7:49 pm My kitchen is very minimalist, sleek, modern and all white. I'm not sure that I like it. I'm stressing over what colour glass to have on my splashback. I like a neutral pallette and the opportunity to jazz it up with splashes of colour. I think I would call my style classic with a twist! Would Dulux bogart be too dark? I think white would be too much. I've gone from orange to whisper white, to beige royal, Haymes rawhide and now to bogart. Any thoughts? You could always stay in the colour "family" and go a few shades lighter with Mud pack, Heifer and Calf Skin if you are unsure. Good luck! Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Splashback stress 4Apr 18, 2010 11:03 am Hi Bel, I've looked at your photos, they look great! What colour splash back did you use for your kitchen? The rest of the house is Haymes Oak Buff in various strengths which is similar to Dulux Beige Royale. I'm worried that if I used Oak Buff on the splash back it might make the white (Tesrol Matt White) look dirty. Any thoughts? These decisions are soooooooo stressful! Re: Splashback stress 5Apr 18, 2010 11:15 am HI Lou Lou, I haven't picked my splash yet The colour I'm liking at the moment is Dulux Mani Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ But the house isn't built as yet, so it's hard to tell if it will look ok, and will go with the wall colour. I'm doing the splash after handover with a mates of DH so I can take my time with the selections. As we are also having a white kitchen, I want a contrast, but not a colour I'll get sick of. I don't know Haymes colours - got a picture? Yes I understand what you mean about making it dirty. Have you looked at Suh's splash? Sue has a white kitchen and a dark splash and it's Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Ahhhh picking colours, its hard isn't it Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Splashback stress 6Apr 18, 2010 11:21 am Hi Lou Lou, sounds like you stress about colour like me! I'm very mercurial in my choices, the smallest upset or a new picture can cause me to spin off on a new tangent, then worry that I've just done an about-face and won't like it down the track Sometimes less is more: not in a colour sense, in a choice sense. Consider the Dulux metallic range - there are fewer choices in colour but they all look great. The metallic sheen adds interest to your minimalist kitchen without being overpowering or quickly dating like an orange, and you can pick up free painted swatches from Bunnings stores to see the colours 'in the flesh' at your house. The range can be viewed by clicking here: http://www.dulux.com.au/colour/colour-wall then pressing "Specialities > Metallic" from the tabs just above the colours. GOOD LUCK! P.S. I don't think Bogart would be too dark, but having all that white in the kitchen will make it look darker. Maybe wind it back to Mud pack if you're worried? Re: Splashback stress 7Apr 18, 2010 11:41 am Hi I like dark splashbacks with a white kitchen. Darker colors are hard to keep clean though they show up all the smudge marks etc. Orange would look pretty special depends how out there you want to be. There is another thread going around with a Orange splashback.
