Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 17, 2010 4:11 pm Hi all, I am currently thinking of doing a feature wall in my home, my problem is i don't know what colour would look good. My ceiling is white, and the walls are currently all light green (very very light, in fact if everything was that colour you would just think it is white/light cream). I have played around with colours in photoshop and the darker ones seem to look the bes, expecially dark brown/charcoal. My problem is that i plan on hanging up some frames of bands - and all the frames are balck so i dont think that will work well. Im thinking maybe a dark burnt orange? See the attached link for a picture for the main wall i want to do, and the colour that it is now. Any ideas are welcome, thanks. http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/9144/p1000922.jpg Re: Feature wall colour 2Apr 17, 2010 5:55 pm How big is the room, large or small? What colours do you have in your kitchen cupboards and bench top? And the rest are huge, it makes it faster for me to work if images are resized to about 500 or 600 pix. I still don’t have my work computer back so I can’t post any colours yet. Look for Dulux Play School, see what you think, type the name into the Search For Colour bar http://www.dulux.com.au/specifier/colou ... atlas.aspx Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Feature wall colour 13Apr 21, 2010 5:54 pm Ok thanks everyone. Now a stupid question - if i start painting it a certain colour (lets say orange) and i get half way thru or all the way thru and realise i dont like it, how hard is it to go back? is it something i could just let dry then repaint with the light green? or would i have to somehow take off the paint i had applied (when dry) and then go over it? because otherwise i am painting a light green over a darker orange so im not too sure if that would then stand out? You wait for it dry - 24 hours. Then just paint an undercoat over the whole wall, wait for that to dry and away you go again. I am thinking now of either going with the dulux orange you suggested, or a light charcoal kind of colour, or see what other kind of light colour i think might suit. Re: Feature wall colour 16Apr 22, 2010 6:42 am I think you should stay with the greens, but about 4 to 5 shades darker. Or possibly a red, red and green are complementary colours. I would try 3 sample pots on old wallpaper, tape them up and then see how the different shades react with the light at different times of the day. Its difficult to know the intensity of the colour from a colour swatch hmmm id assume youll get hit with the "natural product therefore variation in colour etc" excuse. How bad are we talking?
