Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 14, 2010 9:56 pm Hi Michelle and anyone else that can assit, We need help with choosing our render colours. Due to unforseen brick work issues, our builder will be rendering our entire house. Our dilemma now is that we had our exterior colours sorted and now we are faced with choosing render colours (which we previously had not even considered once!). Here are our exterior colours: Roof: Walnut (matches Jasper) Guttering: Jasper Windows: White birch Downpipes: jasper- this has not been painted yet- builder is willing to change this if requested Garage door: Paperbark (this can not be changed) Door: yet to be stained- colour is colonial baltic- builder is willing to change this if requested Pergola: yet to be painted- we had chosen paperbark- builder is willing to change this if requested Please see the following links for pics of our house: http://i633.photobucket.com/albums/uu56 ... sePic1.jpg http://i633.photobucket.com/albums/uu56 ... sePic2.jpg What would be the best colour/s for our facade? Any ideas? Help.... Re: Help please with render colour 3Apr 15, 2010 7:21 pm Consider the change fortunate......I think your house is going to look great rendered and painted. Deep earthy colours are still the go at the moment.....and the brick that was used on your house was going to give that...... Check out Dulux flood mud...just used this recently and would look great with the windows. Dulux gnu tan is another that is popular. Hoping all goes well Re: Help please with render colour 4Apr 15, 2010 7:24 pm That’s a HUGE render job! Who’s paying for that! And who’s coming back to paint it again in 10 years? Did you want a feature colour for wall that juts out below the top balcony? Ideally, we would like to have a base colour for the entire house and have the feature colour for the balcony and the extended porch. However, we are open to any suggestions. We are leaning towards a lighter render - yes a complete change from the dark bricks we had chosen The current picks are Dulux Self Destruct and Taubmans Griffin Drab (as base colours). Thanks for the tip on the dulux gnu tan & flood mud. We will check it out tmrw. Jury is still out for the feature colour, but we like earthy tones. One idea we had was walnut stain for the door, similar paint colour for the pergola, and a darker feature colour for the balcony and porch... Any thoughts ?? ...
