Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 13, 2010 3:02 pm Hi all,
I need to pick colours for my outside walls really really soon and I'd appreciate a bit of sagely advice. I've decided on simple neutrals, preferably along the greys to go with the modern design of the house. Facade plan: Recent progress: As you can see from the plan, the downstairs left side and porch will be rendered, and I'm even toying around with rendering the garage too. Sadly I didn't have the option of a zinc brick. I see the house in 4 sections: Section 1: Left top and bottom Section 2: Right top Section 3: Porch Section 4: garage/right bottom Below are the colours already picked. Roof - Shale Gray Gutters - Shale Gray Fascia - Shale Gray Windows - Gray Aluminium Door - ? Thinking either white or red Brick - Vintage Coffee (lighter brown brick) Thanks Re: Modern house external colours - argh, help? 2Apr 13, 2010 6:06 pm So I’m guessing the question is for the top half as well with a colour? Roof - Shale Gray Gutters - Shale Gray Fascia - Shale Gray Windows - Gray Aluminium Render - Door - ? Thr bricklayers finished the bricks well enough to go without render though. I really liked the dune, calf skin and bogart theme you put together in another thread, though I'm not sure if I need to compensate for the brick colour (on the garage) and that my roof/fascia is lighter. Thanks again for any help. Re: Modern house external colours - argh, help? 4Apr 13, 2010 8:33 pm Sheepdog…what’s going on the top half of your house, the boards? Is that not paint? Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Modern house external colours - argh, help? 7Apr 13, 2010 9:08 pm Yep, the top section is the big priority right now because that needs to be rendered to be waterproof. I was thinking the top left and bottom left in one colour 1, and the top right and porch in colour 2, like the calf skin and bogart scheme. Though i've come to terms with having no colour coordination ability so whatever advice would be appreciated Re: Modern house external colours - argh, help? 8Apr 13, 2010 9:14 pm I’m off to bed now…..but your first up in the morning as I am spending half a day in my office. I’m very happy with these colours, and they will look great with your bricks. I never realised at the time when I picked shale gray capping/roof how blue it looked, so I was a bit worried since Calf Skin and Bogart are a beigey grey. Since they went with the bricks most, I went with it and rationalized that the capping, fascia and roof was a much small visible area and in the light kinda looks a bit like stainless steel. But then I came to the garage door, I realised that if I made it shale grey to match, it would look pretty blue against the brick. I've gone with Dune (argh adding another colour to the mix) as it was the closest to the render and would match the beiges. Do you think I should go with a timber garage door instead so I don't have to match it with anything? Not a big fan of Dune colourbond but I figured neutral was safe, so I'm hoping it works. Whilst I'm at it, should I do the downpipes/box gutters in dune as well? I was planning to do them in Shale Grey but now I'm a bit worried about having too much contrast. What do you think? Thanks again. Re: Modern house external colours - argh, help? 13May 06, 2010 4:26 pm Dunes pretty much an all round colour. Can’t see it NOT going with anything Make sure you show us your finished pics…… Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com The Dulux colour consultants are awesome.
