Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 05, 2010 11:24 am I'm starting to think about furniture we will need when we move but I am really not into the dark timber furniture that is all the rage. We have one dark timber TV unit that Dh convinced me to buy but I must admit I hate it and hav e relegated it to 'his lounge'. I'm not sure what else to get though - our current furntiure is such a mismatch and I want to buy some quality pieces slowly to get rid of the old stuff. I dont want to buy things that look cheap or will date though.... This is what I was checking out in HN the other day - Tassie Oak with dark timber pattern squares on top and abit of dark timber in backs of chairs - thought it was a nice compromise with DH (but mainly as it will match my warm choc brown glass splashback) dining table with 6 chairs: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ (by the way its no longer $2299 but $1599, thats an old pic of it) You can also get matching sideboard or Tv unit or whatever in the same pattern...I'm thinking it would tie some of my older and newer pieces together, what do you think?? I sort of like white timber furniture but worried that would be a bit of overkill with my white gloss kitchen....and my 3 little kids advice please, i dont think i'm much chop at the whole decorating thing Cheers Caz Caz & Co ALL MOVED IN!! In my current house we have dark timber in formal lounge and the lighter colour like yours in the family room, and I just love it, and I've had it for 10 years and I still like it...(I don't like the shape of my furniture but still the colour!!). Good luck My house and my rants.... - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=26937 We are in!!!...and still unpacking. It looks similar to the pic above but doesnt have the darker wood inserts. Its solid ashwood and is a bit lighter in colour but a very plain design which i like. I tried to post a pic but i cant cut and paste from their catalogue. Do you have a Le cornue near you? Here is a link but i dont know if it will work. The wood is really beautiful looking and has a very light nordic look to it. http://www.lecornu.com.au/docs09/Curren ... ePART1.pdf I got the freemantle 8 seater version and after the 15% discount was $1700. Has anyone bought furniture from Le cornue before? I hope that its ok as we also bought a new white sofa, also in the cat, clinton corner suite on p3. I really like that dining table you picked and the chairs are much nicer than the ones i got. I went to a designer furniture store here today and fell in love with a set but the chairs alone were over $2000 for 8 of them so we decided to stick to a budget and this table was perfect. Thanks Mango, there was some nice stuff in that catalogue but its only a SA and NT store, we're in Melbourne. Your diningtable sounds good though! Caz & Co ALL MOVED IN!!
