Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 01, 2010 7:37 am I know I have seen threads about this before, but am just wondering what would be best for me. In my current house we have Scilly white (not sure what brand) but I find it is a bit yellow, so I think I would prefer to not have a yellow based white in the new house. I don't like beige so want a real white white! Our house will be a small 2 storey dark red/brown brick with grey roof and white windows and garage (not 100% about the white yet). Inside all of our wet areas will have charcoal floor tiles and white wall tiles. Our bedrooms and closed off living rooms will have charcoal carpet. Our entrance hall and main living dining kitchen will have darkish timber floors. Our furniture will be darkish wood. I love bali resort style. Kitchen undecided - either white cupboards and grey benchtop or charcoal cupboards and speckly charcoal benchtop (opinions on that would be appreciated too!) We need a darkish benchtop because we have two young boys and they have been known to "accidentally" colour in our current benchtop! Thank you very much in advance! Re: Which Dulux white? 2Apr 01, 2010 9:10 am Well we just painted our walls in Lexicon full strength and did the ceiling and cornices in a plain builders white. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=26066&start=80 If you have a look at the picture of the light towards the bottom of the page, you will see where the lexicon meets the white. I dont have any other pictures as this is the only part that has the two coats of lexicon as yet. Picking the right "white" is so hard. Our scheme is all whites and greys, we tried so many sample pots picking out of the dulux book and it all got too hard and we just ended up choosing lexicon! Re: Which Dulux white? 3Apr 01, 2010 10:07 am I LURVE lexicon.. we picked it too and seeing it in your place Ms Builder I am sooooo happy we chose it now! (Although we have chosen Lexicon 1/2 for ceiling and doors etc... might change that to plain white for that contrast!) We have a builders white ceilings and archs and greyish blue walls. See what it looks like after Easter!! Re: Which Dulux white? 6Apr 05, 2010 11:33 am Hi Lee We seem to have a similar colour scheme going on... I am going for a brown-white, Dulux Winnow (its hard to get a sample of but its similar to sandy day) for walls and white for ceilings, skirtings, etc. I know what you mean about wanting to avoid the yellow tones - I currently have clotted cream and it looks quite old fashioned (which is fine - its in an old house) but not what I want for my new house. I think you would get a modern look that would go with either of your kitchen options with a grey or brown based white. Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again. I had a chat with the builder, he said he will use primer, then hydrotec which comes with colour and sealer as well.
